My wife and I may be devastating regions by our vacation choices.

2018 - Trip to Dominica planned, hurricane wipes it out. Went to Belize instead.
2019 - Trip to Punta Cana, DR planned and people start dying at resorts. Being scared to drink the booze wasn't how we wanted to spend the honeymoon. We go to Playa Del Carmen instead.
2020 - Alaskan Cruise scheduled, coronavirus breaks out devastating the cruise industry and murder hornets show up in several trip ports. Trip canceled.

So seems likely there won't be a vacation out-of-town this year barring things changing rapidly.

Looking forward to 2021....

Do you ever make it to Dominica?
Only got one day there on a cruise stop, but loved that island so much.
Actually looked into real estate prices, but it seems a bit too tough to get to (which I guess is a big reason it kept its charm).

And the water is great but the beaches are mostly shit (jagged rocks). Got to snorkel in bubbles coming up from cracks in the ocean floor, was very cool.

But yeah, seemed like a last little slice of raw paradise and very different from most of the Lesser Antilles. Hope to get back there someday, but definitely tough to get to. The snorkeling sounds cool! I wouldn't mind backpacking across that island. Seems very possible.

Belize ended up being okay - great food and vibe, but the beaches so so. Snorkeling was fantastic though. Best reefs outside of Australia there.
