Hey Glen Healy when you left the Islanders you went to the Rangers & won a cup. I have no idea why you hate the Islanders so much. Obviously things didn't end well for some reason. However, there's absolutely no reason for you to rip Travis Hamonic's 7 year contract. If he was a Maple Leaf you would be saying it's one of the best deals of the offseason. So I only have one thing to say to you Glen, GET OVER IT!!

that's a freaking phenomenal deal, inho.
takes up three of his UFA years for less than $4m per? absolute bargain.

Crazy day or so for my Sens.

Sad to see Alfie go. It sure is going to seem weird seeing him in another jersey.

I love the Bobby Ryan trade. This guy has taken a back seat to Getzlaf and Perry but he could explode under Paul MacLean. I'm Sorry to see Silfverberg and Noesen leave as both are excellent prospects but you have to give to get and with Ottawa's depth of prospects I think it's a good move.

I like the Clarke MacArthur deal. Nothing crazy but some scoring depth.

I hope the team isn't done. I think they need to add a top 4 D man to be able to compete with the big boys in the East.

I think it's a good trade for both teams. The Sens needed to add a sniper. The Ducks needed some cap space. Anaheim has a lot of depth on the wings. Especially if Selanne comes back & with Koivu signing it's likely that he will. There's talk that Anaheim is interested in Grabovski. Which makes sense because they could use another Center.

I went to the Ducks prospect game this morning and from what I saw, Peter Holland should make the Ducks this year, and Hampus Lindholm looked very good. Noesen showed up about two minutes after the game started and took a regular shift thereafter. From what I could see, Lindholm the Ducks first rounder from last year looks really good.

Jon Gibson didn't dress, but is already a star as a few fans noticed him sitting in the team section and came over for photos and autographs - if he is noticeable in Ahaheim in the middle of July, well, he's probably got big things ahead of him.

The last Ducks prospect game I went to was to see Cam Fowler three years ago and none of the front office or coaching staff was there, but today, Bob Murray, Bruce Boudreau, Todd Marchant, Dwanne Roloson were all there.

Not sure what the other teams' prospect pools look like, but the Ducks seem to have a bunch of young guys ready and waiting.

THN rated the Ducks prospect pool #3 in the NHL. They have so many good young players. Etem is a lock to make the team. Rackell played well before he was sent back this season. Vatanen is an outstanding skater with plenty of skill. The Ducks prospect pool is loaded with talent.

Love this move. Nice salary dump and it opens up a roster spot for one of our prospects on D to finally get a shot. Lou commented that there were 4 guys in particular that will get a look (Urbom, Severson, Gelinas and Merrill).

I like this move too for another reason. Tallinder and Tyler Myers had very good chemistry together. He was Myers mate the year he won the Calder and I'm guessing the Sabres hope to recreate that with this signing. The Sabres have pretty good depth on defense now if you consider the good looking youngsters so we will see.

Hey, toss us Sabres fans a bone we haven't had much to talk about during all of the changes around the league in the last week or so.

Lot's of yutes in the line up for sure so there will be some growing pains but we can live with that as long as there's light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train. Esp at 4 am.

With the way the defense played in front of him last year he deserves an award for not going crazy and calling them all out. I don't think the new coach is the answer but Ruff has been a confidence destroyer of a lot of players including Myers that had good seasons then went down the crapper. I could fill a thread of players this happened to. How does a player that wins the Calder have a great season go to playing scared? Afraid to make a mistake because he will end up in the dog house.

How does a player like Grigs drafted high start out good is kept by the team when they could have saved a year on his contract sending him back down kept and then AFTER the time is up send him down? Why did a player like Max A have productive years then all of a sudden get stupid and in the dog house? Ruff wants players to play his "System" that handicaps offensive players to play a style they are not able to play.

In the Buffalo News Bucky Gleason said he is a good coach but plays favorites. That is probably the worst trait a coach can have. He stuck with Connolly making the same mistake Max made X2 and kept him on the first PP. That will never motivate players and to call the players out in pressers like he did (obviously not his favorites) is never a good idea. He is like Torts only not as volatile.

They have Vanek a player that is a true sniper and took a beating because he had no help at all. If that man goes to a team with a good center that knows what the hell he is doing he will score 45 to 50 goals and I would bet on it.

Shit, I have rambled too long but could go on and give examples to fill a thread. trust me. I get sick thinking of it and am god damn sick of losing !!!!!

I can understand why you're frustrated with your team. At least Ruff is gone. There's plenty of talent to work with. I get the impression Darcy is retooling though. It's going to be interesting to see what he does with Vanek. There were rumors of Miller to the Blues, but I have no idea why because St. Louis has 3 goalies themselves. Do you think both are gone before or during the season or do you think they resign long term?

Darcy is the problem though. There's something very wrong with tasking the GM who put you in such a bad position with undertaking the rebuild. Only the Sabres would keep him around that long despite missing the POs in 7 of the last 11 seasons.

I don't know what he'll do with Vanek and Miller. Sometimes I feel like he's finally learned his lesson after f-ing up the Briere/Drury/Vanek thing so bad a few years back, but then he does more stupid crap constantly.

I think I'm going to have to disagree with you Boss. I liked Hank when he was here, but I don't think it's going to suddenly turn Myers back into an NHL caliber D. And if this is what it takes for Myers to play well again, that might be even scarier, knowing that we're paying him $12M this year alone and an average of $5.5M for the next 6 years. If he was actually worth the money the team is spending on him, he wouldn't need a 34 year old D who's been a healthy scratch on a lot of nights in NJ.

Jim Souhan: Cooke signing could burn GM, boil the fans' tempers | StarTribune.com

The author isn't a hockey writer as he covers all sports, but it's a pretty telling read. Matt Cooke is already drawing the ire of the state of hockey and it's only the middle of summer.

/Also sounds like the Wild are going to make a large push for Vanek next summer.

Especially agree with him about the load that the young forwards will be expected to carry this upcoming season. Only time will tell if they are ready for it or not.

Should be rough sledding for Minny, & I won't be entirely surprised if they miss out on the postseason.
