FTFY

Let's not forget that this guy has had exactly ONE above average season as a starter. That was done under perhaps the best coach in the league in terms of defensive systems.

He's a decent goalie but Price, Luongo and Ward should all be ahead of him by a wide margin.

I'm not saying he's a not a good goalie. His career stats just indicate that he hasn't been one over the course of his career.

dont agree with the bold at all

I agree with you on the Tippett effect (I said it about Bryz the day Philli signed him) but I think the "braintrust" will put alot of stock in recent performances at world championships if they are looking at Smith v Ward (smiths numbers at the 2013 worlds were best by a cdn goalie in 5 years iirc)

not saying its a fait accompli ... Ward has been battling injuries the past couple of years and could end up turning things around if healthy this season ... plus I wanna see where the goalies are after the dust settles (ie after a couple of months of playing with these new decreased pad sizes)

Florida Panthers apparently sold for $250 million. Once the deal is announced tomorrow, the Panthers will then announce they have signed Timmah.

Vinnie 'Sweet Music' Viola will be the new owner of the Pans. Maybe his associates Moose and Rocko can help fans find their wallets :D

Oof, that's a pretty big premium over the Forbes assessed value of $170M.

Assuming there must be something else included in the deal.

Like money from Seattle or KC to move there?

Coyotes have released Gilbert Brule from his PTO...

I am stunned by this.

This is my 7,000th post.

You might be right about how Hockey Canada sees it, but these are the guys who once put Rob Zamuner on an Olympic team.

If it was up to me I go with a healthy Ward 10 times out of 10. A handful of fantastic NHL seasons, a Conn Smythe (don't we want all of our goalies to have the ability to run through an ELITE tournament) and a consistent, good track record.

IMO Brian Elliott has about as good a record as Mike Smith. If Brian Elliott plays even one Olympic game for Team Canada I will consider turning in my hockey passport.

I don't know how close Feaster was to signing Brad Richards, but wow, the Flames dodged a bullet.

Good seats, good beer good game, goodnight
Also, I'm a bit tipsy. That picture was supposed to include a stack of about a half dozen beer cups

That was pretty obvious from the picture.

I'll bet that one looked nice and straight last night when you took it.

So that's why the Rangers looked like they were skating uphill.
