The front office knew before we traded him that that is what it would take and chose to not be that patient.

This is true. And Davis needed a change of venue it seemed.

Always liked him and glad to see him do well. Just wish it had been here. Oh well..............

Levine said he just needed to play more regularly when we traded him and that is exactly what worked for him. It seems the Rangers thought the change that was needed was to play him regularly and let him work it out and not necessarily just to change locales. The change in venues did give him the opportunity to play more often though since we were unwilling to show any more patience.

"We had come to a point where it was going to be less likely for him to get everyday at-bats for us," Levine said. "We recognized when we traded him that we were giving him to a team that was going to be able to give him everyday at-bats. We always viewed him as a guy who you were going to need to let play for 500-plus plate appearances."

not ready to give on him just don't want to go in next season hoping that maybe he will suddenly turn it round while we suffer with his not being able to come close to hitting major league pitching

BELIEVE IT OR NOT

Joe Buck just had to mention the Ranger's loss to St Louis in the 2011 WS. If you did not see the game, I'm being truthful. That guy is a big ______ fill n' the blank

From Grant:

Hearing that report from @LaVelleNeal is dead-on accurate. Rangers expected to lose Thad Levine, who will become Twins GM. Report coming.

For what it's worth.

Early returns from the Winter Leagues. Gallo is 1 for 3 with a HR and 3 walks and 4 runs scored. And one strikeout. The link below shows Gallo's HR and a brief interview with Joey during the last part of the video.

Topping Rangers’ off-season list: What to do with Lewis, Holland?

So, look for the Rangers to try to add quality depth behind whoever fills out the rotation.

“A big part of us advancing the ball on the pitching side is not giving up on the guys who struggled this year,” Daniels said. “We’ve got to do what we can to put them in better positions to succeed.”

Daniels said the Rangers’ payroll will remain the same in 2017 as it was in 2016, somewhere between $150 million and $160 million. Not all available funds will go to the rotation, not with holes at center field, first base and designated hitter.

Ian Desmond, who will be a free agent once the World Series ends, could command $15 million to $17 million a season after making only $8 million while becoming an All-Star in 2016.

The Rangers have interest in re-signing Carlos Beltran, also headed toward free agency, but are unlikely to commit money to a DH until their pitching situation is resolved.

Ryan Rua or Joey Gallo, who is expected to debut in the Venezuelan winter league this week, could unseat free-agent-to-be Mitch Moreland at first base. They would be far more affordable options, freeing up money to sign starting pitchers.

Decisions, decisions.

I don't have much interest in seeing Beltran back.

And the point re: 1st base is rock solid one.
