On one hand, preseason doesn't matter, the teams aren't making moves to actually win the games and don't care if they lose. The patriots are routinely bad in the NFL preseason, but usually dominate in the regular season / playoffs. The early returns /injury news/ and individual performances of some players have been underwhelming this spring tho. You never know what you really have until the Rangers are playing to win against the Indians on opening day tho.

I'm guessing or hoping that it's a transition year and not the start of a rebuild. Hopefully the team can compete this year and next year. Guess we'll see.
I wouldn't mind a rebuild actually. If I had a choice of rebuilding and going to the WS in 3 years I would take that over making the postseason every year and having it end the way it has ever since 2011.

I would like to see Drew Robinson make the roster over Alberto.
Drew has a lot of defensive flexibility, but I don't see him contributing much with the bat in the big leagues at all. A lot of folks in the media have been talking him up, but I just don't get it myself.

Emily interviewed him after the game yesterday and damn if he doesn't seem like he has a good head on his shoulders too.
That means he will probably be in the next trade for another pitcher. lol

We will not know unless he gets a chance. We already know Alberto can't hit.

The question is how many times are we going to see this team rebuild?

I remember the rebuild in the early 2000s was tough to sit through. The team seemingly took forever to get good again after their run of winning division titles in the late 90s

GLENDALE, Ariz. - With three weeks remaining before opening day, the back end of the Rangers’ rotation started to take shape during the weekend.

Right-handers A.J. Griffin and Mike Hauschild began to separate themselves from the pack by each working four scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox. Hauschild on Sunday followed Griffin’s showing a day earlier.

It is the time when pitchers trying for jobs move from the “working on something” phase to real competition.
"They're really making a nice push for themselves," manager Jeff Banister said. "It's about making us look at them and pay attention to what they can do.

We have only had one rebuild with JD at the helm and it went well. It went very well.

I wonder if DeShields has played himself into having some trade value?

If nothing else Cruz is the perfect example of why it isn't wise to give up on a good hitter too quickly.
