So you've got Hamels/Yu at 1 & 2, then ??? at 3-5? How much money you willing to pay for 3 new starters?

IMO Perez WILL BE in our rotation for next season, probably at the 4 position. But in the rotation regardless.

Martinez looked considerably better when he got recalled, and I still feel at least one of the Holland/Griffin/Lewis will be given an opportunity to win the # 5, if they are physically able to do so.

well i think we will definitely have to go the trade route for a #3 and that means giving up quality to get quality including possibly Perez, Profar etc. And we should be able to get a reliable #4 off FA. Maybe Nova or someone similar. And then re-sign Holland to a more team-friendly deal for #5

well i see 1 of them being at #5 but that's just my opinion. JD's the one whose opinion will count in the long run. We used all of them at 3, 4 and 5 over the 2nd half of the season and none of them were impressive enough to suit me

Chicago would be looking for MLB-ready, Mendez is probably a year or two away from being ready

Profar wants to be a starting SS. He's said as much. If the Rangers choose to hold onto Andrus and Odor, he is basically our most valuable trading chip. JD and the Rangers minor league system have not been particularly good at developing ML ready starting pitching, which I adamantly believe is our biggest need. So to acquire said pitching, in a very thin FA market, it will have to be via trade.

And if Chicago wants ML ready pitching, then make the deal Gallo, Profar, and Perez for Sale.

he ask a question about trading those 3 and i answered based on those 3. it would take more than them to tickle the White Sox fancy into trading Sale but during the trade period both Profar and Gallo were mentioned as being on thier radar

I am not ready to trade Mendez and not ready to go after ace pitching like Sale. Now Archer or Gray interest me. I still think just a 3 is enough and try to restock AAA. Perhaps we can pick up something at the break. We seem to have a surplus of BP arms. One of them may be included in a deal. I think Profar is more likely to go than Gallo but if he starts in AAA and build up value then maybe he is moved at the break.

Chris Archer would be a good acquisition. I'm not as high on Gray. But I want us to be aggressive in our pursuit of quality SP because I believe 2017/2018 will be our window. After that Beltre , Hamels, and Darvish may no longer be Rangers. (Darvish maybe sooner)

My point of view,

We have 2b, ss, 3b, c, and 2 of spots filled, that leaves dh, cf and 1b to fill,

Cargo wants to be here based on the way he talks, that could be cf... Not sure about Desmond but wouldn't mind a 4 year deal.... That pushes choo to dh, not sure what to do with 1b but i do like Mitch's glove there, the rest is eh

Rotation: we have hamels, Darvish and perez for sure

That leaves a decision on Holland versus the dregs of the world like griffin or Martinez, I'll take Holland

Basically we need a solid #3 and hope Perez and Holland pitch better than the average #4 & #5

The reason I'm rolling with Mitch is because we get 1b level production from 2b
