Except the Ducks have Selanne and possibly Koivu departing after this season - that is where Etem and Rackell step right in.

Goalie and a first rounder for a Vanek rental maybe.

That offer won't get it done from the Isles perspective. Besides with Hiller, Selanne & Koivu gone at the end of the season Vanek can step right in. The Ducks will have the money to resign him & will be able to give him an 8th year if they acquire him.

Gibson or Anderson, Rackell or Etem & Ottawa's 1st round pick?

At least that involves someone who was on an NHL roster, right?

Regin isn't a terrible pick up. Adds some depth I suppose. Not sure PMB has played in a few months at the NHL level though.

Isles are retaining half the salary in that trade too. I have a feeling they're going to be doing that a bit this deadline.

I always liked Regin and was sad to see him go. However he never regained the form he showed against the Pens in the PO a few years back. Remember how good he was in that series? Looked like he was going to be a helluva player. Injuries then just seemed to derail his career, big time.

Hopefully he can get it back playing in a depth role with the Hawks. Solid hardworking guy.

I always liked Regin and was sad to see him go. However he never regained the form he showed against the Pens in the PO a few years back. Remember how good he was in that series? Looked like he was going to be a helluva player. Injuries then just seemed to derail his career, big time.

That's sort of the version of him I see still, which is why I really like this deal for the Hawks. They already have some great depth, and this can only help. With the Isles retaining half the salaries, even PMB is a great option. His $2M deal looks mighty back considering the player he's become lately. But even yet, if the Hawks have any injury trouble, they have the depth to withstand it. I don't foresee them making a splashy move at the deadline, and these minor moves could prove pretty helpful.

I can't help, but laugh at this trade. The Islanders get rid of two stiffs, payroll & actually get a draft pick. I wouldn't have given up a bag of pucks for either of them. PMB has been in the AHL for awhile now. What's sad is these two guys were Garth's big acquisitions in the offseason. PMB was supposed to replace Boyes. UGH!!
