MacT did make a good trade shipping away PRV to the Blues for David Perron. I don't think Perron was well liked inside the Blues dressing room and it doesn't look like the Blues have missed him all that much, but Perron is the leading goal scorer on the Oilers.

Perron is a very talented player. He fits well with the Oilers philosophy. They seem to like small guys. That trade was about money more than anything else from the Blues perspective. They needed to free up cap space to sign Pietrangelo.

I don't understand GM's who have to now what their teams biggest weakness is & fail to solve the problem. I have no idea who the Isles will have in goal next year. I doubt Garth Snow does either. The Oilers are in the same boat. If you want to win you better have a big time goalie.

Should look into Reimer from the Leafs for the Isles.

The asking price keeps going up. I'd rather the Isles go the UFA route. If Vanek resigns, Miller would look great between the pipes for the Isles. Of course this would require Wang to open the checkbook. Word is he's willing to do just that for Vanek. We shall see.

It's to bad the Kings were more concerned with clearing cap space with the Bernier trade than actually improving their team. Of course Garth offered Niederreiter who they didn't want, partly due to his cap hit. Garth should have been more creative.

With Bernier already there, you would think they would drop the price a bit instead of wasting him on the bench. They can get a decent return for Reimer, idk, guess we'll see what happens. What goalies are on the market in the off-season?

Miller, Hiller, Halak, Elliott, Khudobin. That's just off the top of my head.

McIlhenny :yahoo:

Halak AND Elliott are UFA? Damn. Bad situation for a Cup favorite.

Looking at Cap Geek, the crop is bigger:
Brodeur (Obviously will retire)
Thomas
Khabibulin (Who I imagine will retire)
Emery
Bryz
Dubnyk
Vokoun
Gustavsson
Giguere (probably will retire)
Greiss

Didn't scroll down far enough. Scrivens, Labarbera, Hutton, Montoya and Peters.

I would take any one of the last five to share the net with Bob. Especially Peters.

I'd take Peters on the Isles now. I know I should aim higher I just have no idea what Wang is willing to do financially.

Warren believes the Sens have prioritized a winger for Jason Spezza

They have been trying to do that for like 7 years now. And for most of that time the Jackets were trying to find a Center for Rick Nash. And the only deals happened were the Pascal LeClaire thing and Foligno for Methot which worked out awesome for both teams.

Marian Gaborik is a winger. All we ask is Robin Lehner in return. Easy, right?

Did Burke just call Shane O'Brien a good player in the above article? :nono:

“Obviously the extra year of his contract is the killer, so now we'll see if we can structure a trade and we'll see if there's a team that would take him if we aren't part of the obligations...that will be the first order of the day."

what does this mean? We will trade him and keep part of his salary only if we dont have to keep part of his salary? so no one wanted him for free at his price tag but someone will take him for a player or a draft pick with no salary going back?
