One could make a not so funny video remake of the Hitler in the bunker video with Sabean explaining all that to Hitler with Adolf waiving him off saying that "Well, at least we have Aaron Rowand. He has good power, and great veteran presence".

Just seen this and thought I'd post it up. My apologies for (most likely) putting up something that's already been done or talked about to death, but....just in case it hasn't..

I don't remember a Cuban in the late 90s, but they gave Michael Ynoa a fat $4.25 million contract about 5 years ago. The kid has been so oft-injured that he has only pitched in a handful of innings since the signing.

Ariel Prieto was who I was thinking of. A bit different because he was declared eligible for the draft, and the I's spent the #5 pick on him...

Aaah yes. I remember him. Quite the bust.

Bust? Are you crazy?

Parts of 6 years in the bigs.

15-24 record.

4.85 ERA.

1.65 WHIP.

You consider that a bust out of the #5 pick in the draft? Dude, you REALLY need to check your expectation levels.

By your statement, I assume that you believe anyone who makes it to the bigs is no longer a bust. But the guy was already 25 years old when he was drafted, so there was no development to be done. He was taken fifth overall after dominating in Cuba. He took his team to the Cuban Series and was throwing mid 90s stuff. By all rights he should have been much better than he was.

He NEVER had a winning record.
He NEVER had an ERA below 4.00
He gave up fewer hits than IP in his rookie season (by 1 hit 58 IP and 57 hits) and then NEVER did it again.
He NEVER had a WHIP below 1.45

You can qualify him all you want. With his talent, he was a total and complete bust.

Cam,

You are WAY better than this.

Shame on you.
