Yeah..yeah...I know...this is a new series, and a new thread, but this DiComo article I just came across is really too good to put into the April thread (where I decided to put that entire series)...and besides, that crazy win in Philly last night was one to remember (maybe not "one for the ages"...lol.... but pretty darn close)..and hopefully it galvanizes this team and inspires them to start playing better and more consistent baseball moving forward.

Mets lead 2-1...mid 2nd.
They scored both runs with the bases loaded.
Nido HBP rbi.....and McNeil walk rbi.

Not sure WTF is up with Lindor anymore.
There's no other way to say it...he's in a real bad rut..and just K'd with the bags full with 2 outs. (2nd K today)
I can't see him continually batting in the 2 hole.
He needs to be dropped down to 6th or 7th, and possibly even 8th or 9th until he snaps out of it.

I'm patiently awaiting for him to show up soon.....but it seems that's not happening...at least not yet.

FFS.
Take this guy out, Rojas.

B2B innings the Mets put up runs to take a lead.....and b2b innings this dude can't toss a shutdown frame and gives those runs right back after he gets 2 quick outs.
5-5 tie.

Now he gives up b2b 2out doubles.

Cards now lead 6-5.

Finally...he's pulled.

We've gotta have better arms in the pipeline.
Sheeesh.

Gsellman coming in to stop the bleeding.

Seth Lugo can't get back from the IL fast enough.

Up to this point we paid $300+ for Rey Ordonez.

Need Carrasco and Syndergaard to get healthy.
That whole "Donnie" thing is a trip.....lol

But yeah....we definitely need more from him than his glove.
I trust he'll come around at the plate.....but when, is the question.
Dude is hitting a buck sixty after 22 games and a month gone by.
If it doesn't improve real soon they have to move him down a bit in the order.

Yikes.
I almost feel bad for Lindor.
He's just not in sync with the bat yet.
The mental approach at the plate just seems askew and it's tough to watch, because we all know he's better than that.

I hope there isn't some injury he's hiding. That would really suck.

Meanwhile....Sean Reed-Foley takes the mound for the Mets in the 6th.

Gsellman held the fort.

edit:
Still 6-5 Cards...heading to the 7th.

Well the Brewers laid down like dogs in Philly.....smh.

Mets go quietly 1-2-3 in the top of the 8th.

Reid- Foley, like Gsellman before him, pitched 2 solid innings out of the Mets pen, so there's that.

Jacob Barnes is coming in to pitch for NY in the bottom of the 8th.

Mets drop the opener 6-5....and fire their hitting coaches afterwards.....

Barnes also looked good out of the Mets pen.
All 3 NY relievers were solid and kept the Cards at bay for the last 5 innings of the game...that said, the Mets were held scoreless for the final 6 innings.

Looks like Dom might be slipping into a little funk too...but hopefully not for long.
We're gonna need run production from wherever we can get it, especially if Davis & Nimmo are gonna be out for much longer.

Updates:

BTW: We'll have deGrom on the hill for Tuesday's game.

I have to wonder if Luis Rojas will last much longer at the helm now.
This team has been underperforming since late last season for no good reason whatsoever.
If Cohen and the PTB decide to go in another direction, then I really hope Edgardo Alfonzo is given a shot...because it simply can't continue at this current trajectory. Something's gotta give. The hitting coaches aren't solely to blame.
There's too much talent on this team to be playing this poorly.

A shakeup is definitely needed, the hitting coaches are a start. I can't imagine it will happen but can you imagine the injection of life into this team if Beltran was brought in?

What are your thoughts on Lindor?

Dude has really let me down this year. Will he make up for it? Just a "slow start"?
