That was hilarious..... I wonder if Hobs still moonlights with the Enquirer. Brown might not pay him a 12-month salary.

Other author possibilities are Troy Blackburn or Dan Hoard.

"Teams who consistently drop mega millions on the first days of free agency actually found themselves atop the list of lowest percentage spenders. Leading the way were the Oakland Raiders (80.2 percent), Carolina Panthers (80.8), New York Jets (81.2), Jacksonville Jaguars (82.2) and Dallas Cowboys (82.6)"

The Bengals have 29 million dollars more in capspace than the Cowboys right now. Also all of those teams other than the Jags have been in cap hell the past few years and have had to clear out dead money contracts. I'd like to read an informed counterpoint by a cap expert.

Jesus Christ...does the Brown family have no shame? Enough is enough with the freakin Nazi propaganda. Fuck this team. They talk to us like we are mentally handicapped. Just move this team to Canada already. I don't care anymore. It's insulting.

Iloka is a top 5 SS in the NFL, he should get paid. Jones.....not so much.

So basically we'll let Iloka walk in FA, and overpay for the glass man Marvin Jones. Gotcha

Is this based on PFF stats, personal opinion, or a little of both? I thought Iloka had a good season last year, but it's hard for me to imagine him being a top 5 player at his position. Unless the talent at SS has really dipped in the past few years.

1) The author of this article: Paul Dehner Jr., [email protected] 11:42 a.m. EDT March 8, 2015

2) Paul was not saying those guys would make that much money. What he was saying was if we drop 60 million on Suh, what we could have in return instead? Those contracts he mentioned would make all those players top 5 paid at their positions and you can still pay them what you would one big FA contract to SUH. Then he goes on to say, NONE of these guys are listed top 5 at their position, so the contracts wouldn't even be as much as he mentioned, only as a comparison sake. So basically, overpaying on one free agent and sacrificing the rest of the team for a HOPE he is going to be the guy to take us to the promised land, is insane!

3) I do not disagree with him too much, however, if they are going to keep the best of their own home grown products, they better live up to that sheet.

another year "in the system" > talent upgrade as far as management is concerned.

PFF stats mixed with some other stuff I read. led all NFL safeties in Pro Football Focus' coverage snaps-per-reception metric. For about every 52 snaps Iloka was in coverage, a receiver caught a pass. The next closest safety to Iloka allowed a reception roughly every 43 passes thrown his way.

when the Bengals lost faith in Mohammed Sanu's consistency and stopped throwing to him, it really affected the offensive passing game. I certainly don't condone over spending for Marvin Jones, but realistically speaking if these guys are a not a fit for our system we could trade both of them and get a decent pick or player.

as for Iloka, sure he looks like shit sometimes, but Safety, with all the rules they have to protect receivers, has become one of the most difficult positions to play in the game with one of the thinnest talent pools at the position. except for the Bengals... everyone on the Bengals can double as a Safety.

Fair enough. I like the guy -- Just surprised to hear he's considered one of the best at his position. Admittedly, I don't know many safeties in the NFL at this point.

Odd that an author now exists..... That wasn't the case initially.

Also odd that Dehner is already on the Brown payroll. He seemed to have integrity.

Seen an article this morning where he was the number 10 safety in all of football. Thats out of all safeties, free and strong. I think it's a mix of he is good and the position is lacking talent.

I like Iloka too. He's been a nice find. Didn't realize he was that highly regarded. He'll look great in the Eagles secondary in 2 years.

I could maybe buy into SS, but top 10 of all S? I dunno about that.

How many can you honestly name that are better? McCourty, Thomas, Kam, Weddle, Harrison Smith, Vaccaro maybe, Tyrann Mathieu, Gipson.....I'm struggling to get more.
