The reason for me is that the QB will outlast those coaches and GMs. They are more critical or harder to replace. And this isn’t just limited to the top-tier QBs like Rodgers. Matt Ryan is still a Falcon, many coaches and GMs can’t say the same over the same time span.
Earlier someone said they don’t interview a candidate that will be their boss at their job. And I don’t think that quite fits in the NFL. Technically speaking a HC or GM might be a QB‘s boss but in practicality that isn‘t the case.
