Yes, but interesting news nevertheless.
Please not that if I post a headline only, without comment. I have no comment.
And note Often my questions are questioning the content and not the poster.

Rumor #1 - Patriots and Jakobi Meyers have been in discussions about a new contract. Hang up is length. JM wants 5 and the Patriots are at 3.

Rumor #2 - Arizona Cardinals and Patriots have been talking about DeAndre Hopkins. Arizona wants a 2nd and a conditional pick or a player. Patriots are hedging but have countered with a third round.

Rumor #3 - Patriots and Johnathan Jones have ben talking about a new contract. Again, length is the hang up. Jones wants 5 and the Patriots are looking at 3.

Tends to make one wonder why the Patriots (or BB) can't move in to the 2020's and realize that these young guys want money and a solid home for a reasonable amount of time. They're going to get five years signing with another team. It's also evident that BB has a problem paying anyone the going rate for their position. It's almost as if he has to get them for an amount cheaper than the Franchise Tag price for their position. Signin any free agent of mquality could be very difficult if he refuses to pay the going rate.

The issue is with five years is injury or skill sets diminishing. Top load the deal so the hit is less of you have to cut ties. Plua players agents can be unreasonable and are more than likely the ones driving the five year deal, makes them more money.

Bill has always lowballed his top guys in order to have more capital to pay more for bottom guys. They always pay the cap, they just spread it around better.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Patriots will not apply the franchise tag on CB Jonathan Jones.

Rapoport added that the Patriots would be interested in bring back Jones, 29, who last season was graded by PFF as the NFL's 33rd best coverage cornerback. Jones in 2022 had a career-high four interceptions. The Bears, with one of the league's worst secondaries, would be a sensible landing spot for Jones if he doesn't return to New England.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Patriots "haven't made very much progress" on a contract extension for Jakobi Meyers.

He added, "it sounds like Meyers will hit the market when it officially opens March 15." ESPN's Mike Reiss previously speculated that Meyers could fetch a deal similar to Christian Kirk's on the open market. That would see Meyers making $18 million per year. New England has the cap spaced necessary to bring their leading receiver back at that price, but they seemingly don't view it as the best way to spend their limited resources. Unless the contract offers from other teams fall short of Meyers' expectations, it looks like he is set to play for a new team in 2023.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports DeAndre Hopkins would be "flexible on the last two years of his contract" if traded.

Rapoport noted that he would not necessarily be looking for a "top-of-the-market deal." Hopkins was recently on The Pat McAfee Show and acknowledged the trade rumors, though he didn't expand much beyond that. If the Cardinals move Hopkins, they would be on the hook for a modest cap hit while his new team would take on expenditures of $19.5 million in 2023 and $14.9 million in 2024. Neither number is absurd for a player of Hopkins' talent, but only eight teams even have $20 million in space for the 2023 season as things stand right now. Hopkins has been one of the best receivers in the NFL for nearly a decade but has two playoff wins to show for his efforts. It sounds like he would be open to some form of a restructured contract or even an extension that lowers his cap hits over the next two years if it meant he was playing for a contender. That possibility opens the door for a lot of teams to make Arizona offers.

So riddle me this boy blunders...

We all know and now seem to accepts that last year the offense stunk, very specifically in the RZ. Last year was Parkers first year, and the entire Patricia / Judge things was just horrid.

So with Parker locked, Thornton in year two, if the Pats somehow manage to sign Hopkins and retain Jakobi does this put WR very, very low in the draft board? I say yes. If the Pats can manage to sign Hopkins and retain Jakobi, and ink one solid OT seems to me this really opens up the draft. What say you all?

If you had hit this nail any harder, it would be counter sunk.

This would making trading down a gold mine. Get SEA #20 and #51 and they could probably get #26 from NO and #40.

That would have them walking in tall cotton with #26 in the first and #40, #46, #51 in the second which would create tremendous trade opportunities for mor picks and quite possibly players. Or Trade #14 to PIT for #32, #49 and #80.

All speculation and looking what might be possible.

Yes, very low. But at least you could take a couple day three fliers and maybe a late day two on WR and hope one catches on.

If I am BB I am also looking at Donavan Smith recently released by TB. I have a feeling he is looking at McGlinchey but that feeling is most likely me just wanting to have him at RT on this team

If I'm an owner, I want my GM to give everybody what they want!
In what world does the ball-boy get 1.2 million per?

Smith's contract doesn't match his performance.
I'd rather pay for McGlinchey than overpay for Smith.

He was cut it would be a new contract. And I agree on McGlinchey I have made it clear this is the guy I want to target
