Yes he is. If he’s off it’s by only about 5 million per year. You either pay the QB or you move on. There’s 32 jobs and only about 7-8 guys are franchise guys and only about 4-5 others are guys their team hopes will be franchise guys. Look at Dak’s contract. Look at Rodgers contract. This is the going rate.He isn't worth half that

Yeah that's the only reason there is a dilemma here bc Daniel Jones at his best is nothing more than a game manager. Not paying a game manager $45+M a year. No way. He improved his TO's which is a big thing but he isn't a franchise QB.Test their limits, then negotiate down to keep your job. Giants don't want to start over at QB.

I'm not paying Jones $40M/year. $30M fine but honestly I don't like him long-term so do you keep a guy for $40M that has an obvious ceiling or do you start over? I am not for starting over but maybe if you can grab Carr or Rodgers. I would rather have Rodgers short-term than Jones long-term. Carr would be the obvious choice. 76 TO's and 72 total TD's in his 4 years.
Watson’s cap hit next year is $54 million. Browns cap is ridiculous. They have like 60% of their cap tied up in like 5-6 players.Gotta start negotiations somewhere, better not to undersell. At least he didn't aim for the very top (Rodgers is at $50M per average, Russ at $49M, Kyler and Deshaun at $46M, Mahomes at $45M).
What I’m saying is that you likely can’t sign him for 30 m because someone will pay him 40 million. It’s a seller’s market at QB. There is more demand than there are QBs. The dilemma you present is why Jones will likely sign for something close to this.I'm not paying Jones $40M/year. $30M fine but honestly I don't like him long-term so do you keep a guy for $40M that has an obvious ceiling or do you start over? Rodgers is making $50M per. Carr will get $45M+ most likely. Carr had a bonafide #1 and still had a worse year than Jones in 2022, as did Rodgers really.I'm not paying Jones $40M/year. $30M fine but honestly I don't like him long-term so do you keep a guy for $40M that has an obvious ceiling or do you start over? It depends on who he is as a QB going forward. He’s gonna have to be tremendous to account for the impact on the roster from having a handful of players account for 60% of their cap.I'm gonna puke. I didn't like the DW signing when it happen. And now I dislike it even more.
Yup no way to build a teamWatson’s cap hit next year is $54 million. Browns cap is ridiculous. They have like 60% of their cap tied up in like 5-6 players.
Yes they do have a lot tied up in 12 guys ($10M+ deals) but they also planned for this years before to pay a QB. Now, the other contracts are a different story. I hope they get full value out of Ward this year with Schwartz then flip him next year. They are paying a lot for their OL, the Conklin deal could backfire.Watson’s cap hit next year is $54 million. Carr is better than Daniel Jones. If they are making the same money, I will take Carr all dayRodgers is making $50M per. Carr will get $45M+ most likely. Carr had a bonafide #1 and still had a worse year than Jones in 2022, as did Rodgers really.

Your sample size is one year? Sure, he had a better year last year but how about the previous 3. Carr was better and that isn't saying much bc I don't think Carr is a world beater.2022
Carr: 15 g, 502 att, 60.8%, 3522 yards, 7.0 avg, 24 TD, 14 INT, 27 sacks (191 yards), 55.5 QBR, 86.3 rating (102 rushing, 0 TD)
Jones: 16 g, 472 att, 67.2%, 3205 yards, 6.8 avg, 15 TD, 5 INT, 44 sacks (243 yards), 60.8 QBR, 92.5 rating (708 rushing, 7 TD)
Carr is also older. Additionally, how much of the Daniel Jones story is malpractice from a coaching perspective? It’s almost like last year was year 1 for him with a legitimate coach who has a track record.Your sample size is one year? Sure, he had a better year last year but how about the previous 3. The Giants fucked up declining his 5th year option. They would have one more season with him at $22M I believe. Daniel Jones isn't worth $45M/year on a long-term deal.
Carr is 31. I wouldn't say that is old for a QB if we are talking about the next 3-4 years.Carr is also older. Additionally, how much of the Daniel Jones story is malpractice from a coaching perspective? It’s almost like last year was year 1 for him with a legitimate coach who has a track record.
