Yes. His problem has been a season where he had a head coach who was in over his head and injuries. When he has had a grown up for a coach and been healthy, he's been good. He isn't ever going to be elite, so he needs a better team around him...but if Trent Dilfer can win a Super Bowl, so can Baker.

Watsons decision may be based on more than just which team is more ready to win now. If memory serves, Watson has experience with Carolinas coach. Also, if I understand what has been reported those are the offers that the Texans have agreed to, that may not mean that Watson agrees.
Yeah there is still a ton of risk trading for Watson beyond the suspension and legal isssues. You are giving up premium assets, injury history, is he a good leader, etc.

I am sad.

I want Baker. He had a bad year when he was injured. He is not as talented as Watson. We all know that

Radio personalities have been comparing Kareem Hunt to Watson--- saying well one guy did some bad stuff- people forget it.

Its a huge difference in my eyes. Kareem Hunt was a 22 year old kid who had a bad night when he was drunk and some crazy hoe dropped N bombs at him.

22 different woman are accusing Watson. 22.

Baker was amazing in the community. Always gave everything he had.

Its a sad day

chances are we dont even get Watson and we just alienated Baker.

its pathetic.

There have been some low points as a Browns fan but this is among the lowest ones- if not the lowest. Shadeball Jimmy Haslem that cheated a bunch of truckers is trying to take a short cut.

fucking pathetic.

It has to mean something that none of those 22 (or however many) charges were viable enough to stick. Sure, he's still likely a dirtbag, but the timing of all those charges is interesting as well. Did he want out because of the groundswell of charges, or vice versa?

Because Watson is a scumbag.

And Baker- when healthy- can definitely be a good QB. Baker wont be the best of the best- but he can be very good. Last year he was injured, he missed weeks with Covid, the offensive line fell apart health wise- OBJ quit and Landry got hurt. It was a disaster all around- and they still went 8-9. They got positively fucked in the Green Bay and Chargers games with insanely bad calls.

the Green Bay game is interesting. Baker had some great throws but threw a ton of pics. He was playing behind a make shift line with shit WR's. He had not practiced in 2 weeks. He flew up by himself the day of the game because he had been in covid isolation and just got out of covid protocols. He had a fractured shoulder and torn labrum

and the Browns came down to a bad call of possibly beating Green Bay in Lambeau.

I dont want to give up 3 first rounders and Greg Newsome for some scumbag making 40 million a year who the last year he played led his team to a 4-12 record.

I don't think you have to worry. Does Watson want the Browns is what it comes down to. Trade packages from three teams have already been accepted according to the report.

I remember when @WiggyRuss called Mayfield more popular than LeBron in Cleveland.

Do you remember?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

You don't remember what he originally said do you?

Dammit man making defend wiggy, what's wrong with you?

He said Mayfield would be a bigger sports icon in Cleveland if he led the Browns to a S.B. win. And he wasn't wrong in say that. No matter what the Cavs or Cleveland Baseball Team does that city will always be a football town first.

And don't try to incorrectly put your special little spin on things. In no way am I saying that jackass in cleats (Mayfield) will do that.

I don’t think so, I’m sure they are just taking a flyer on Watson.
definitely a lot more than a flyer (and realize I'm saying this a long time after your comment) but I'm pretty sure if we don't find a better option we'll keep baker.

It's a hit or miss but I can tell you this much, most do not want Watson. Replace him? Sure, but a lot have been saying that for over a year but for another QB not named Watson and then you have some that just want a clear upgrade at QB.
Have to say it sure seems like more fans want Watson than not from what I see.

I just want who/whatever gives us the best chance to win

Slow down there and let it play out.

I mean, for me I'm a Browns' fan first and foremost, not a fanboy nor hater of a player as many seem to be before their love for the team...not saying that's you.

If you believe in Berry and the FO like I do wait and see how it plays out before passing judgement. If you don't believe in them, that's another story.

I'm not so sure about that. I think that bridge is burned, it's over at this point but I'm sure Berry has a Plan B like for example Winston or Mariotta...nothing spectacular but a Plan B.

Did you hear about this yet?

Baker Mayfield thanks fans in social media post amid trade speculation

Small part of it.

"This is strictly to thank the city of Cleveland for embracing my family and me."

"I have given this franchise everything I have."

Then at the end of his statement he said the fans at home are too loud when the Browns have the ball and his wife said his teammates suck! :heh:

It is about bc of Haslem, he pushed the Watson idea and we wonder why this franchise has been shit for decades
I mean, there is nothing to back this but sure. Couldn't just be the FO saw a chance to pick up a potential elite QB and looked into it.

If they get him and it works will you be crediting the Haslams?

Why are you guys concerned about the feelings of a QB who is in the bottom third of league starters? I don’t know how it isn’t abundantly clear that a Watson at QB is a distinctive upgrade. Professional athletes need to know the game. Teams should always be looking to improve and Watson has the talent to change a team’s trajectory. Why would you lobby for a franchise to not explore that because it would hurt the confidence level of a mediocre QB?
while I think possible Baker is above avg. I agree with the rest of this. I'm sure the team or his agent (or even baker himself just knows) reminded him this is a business.

I would say it's about knowing that stars with choices tend not to pick cities like Cleveland. So they risk alienating their current franchise quality QB by so publicly going after a QB that they are unlikely to get anyway.

It might be different if Watson didn't have a NTC and the Texans could just take the best offer.
why are they unlikely to get him? Of all the teams making pitches if winning is near the top of his list could argue the Browns are his best option.

These are different circumstances in getting a player. Is there an alternative to go about this other than they way the Browns did (other than just not trying)?

would add this is the NFL and the stars don't pick Cleveland idea not close to the same as it might be in the NBA. Now if weather is his #1 factor during the season then, sure, Cleveland goes to bottom of list.
