When I say it will consume itself I mean the system will be forced to change. We have rich people thinking they can buy titles for their program. Eventually when they are approached for a million for a specific player they are going to say hey, why have the last 3 I gave you money for never done anything and aren’t even here anymore? Contracts are needed and they will come. Espn is losing hundreds of millions of dollars, so much that they have gotten rid of a lot of real talent. The entire college football system will reset at some point, economics will demand it.

Yeah, a couple of years in and it's pretty clear that, at the least, there need to be changes to the transfer portal and NIL.

At the very least, they need to not open the portal until after bowl season. Also, I read something the other day that mentioned that there are a lot of players who enter the portal and no one picks them...what happens to those players? We hear about top players who enter the portal and who got signed by who, but we don't hear about the other side.

Some of the NIL stuff will self-correct. As you mentioned, there will be a point where those providing the money are going to start getting annoyed when they are paying players who don't develop or leave.

Also, NIL is supposed to be separate from the school, but we've already had coaches making appeals through the press for their alumni to increase NIL money.

I doubt it. For sports possibly but by the time you get every streaming platform, it is more than a cable bill which is horrible
It depends on the streaming but yes if you want all these different streaming options it is essentially just as expensive. The particular streaming option I have I paid for two years in advance and I get basically for $20/month. It is more expensive now but I get all sports packages, ppv, all movie channels + new release movies and 1,000's of tv shows. Sometimes there will be issues so not as convenient as cable but as long as you have good internet this has been amazing

I think the next big change will be that NIL will come direct from the schools. I also think what will end up being the upper tier will be paying all student athletes a salary of some sort. At that point the debate team is going to say hey, what about us?

Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 player in the 247Sports Composite, made it official and signed with Ohio State on Wednesday night. Here is what you need to know:

  • Smith, who played at Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade, committed to Ohio State last December but continued to take visits — both official and unofficial — to several schools. He announced his intention to sign with Ohio State at a ceremony at his school early Wednesday afternoon but did not make it official until late Wednesday evening.
  • Smith is the first wide receiver to earn the No. 1 overall ranking in the 247Sports Composite since Dorial Green-Beckham in 2012.
two 5 star WR's in this class. This has never been an issue but it seems like the DL talent has been as good over the last couple years but I think Ohio St was just spoiled for years with Young and the Bosa's. DB and WR talent is still ridiculous. If Henderson leaves they better have a RB. QB unfortunately right now is the biggest issue, which sucks.

I know all this, I keep saying they will keep the college names and stadiums and colors and history and rivalries. But the players will all be paid, degrees will be optional for players who know they won't be going to the NFL, and most importantly (I hope) the CFB teams will be their own entity completely separate from college conferences so the other sports can go back to regional groupings.

I suspect some lower tier schools in the smaller conferences will not participate, maybe football will become like it used to be in those schools (Holy Cross and Harvard and San Jose State etc) and be back to just students who play football for fun.
Not sure when but I do think we will eventually have 2 conferences in CFB, kind of like the AFC and NFC in the NFL. Not sure how they will put it together (divisions, one big conference, etc). also agree it will be separate from other sports.

its how it should be anyway- get rid of NIL altogether - its stupid. I would let football teams be separate from the rest of the athletic department so UCLA's softball teams is not flying to Rutgers for a game- dumb.

College athletes get so many benefits. The one thing I think makes sense is insurance coverage for stars that if they get hurt in college- at least get paid something if they cant make it to the pros- hell- nowadays the stars get drafted in the first round anyway even with a big time injury.
No issue at all with NIL or being paid directly by the schools. Probably should happen. why shouldn't it be a free market for the players like the rest of society? Though I guess I do think they need to have some guidelines so they are actually earning the money and not just being paid to do nothing.

while I still think we will be fine...meaning, remain an upper tier elite team, a friend who follows recruiting closely says he's concerned. His concern is have not been able to lure the top OL and even DL like in year's past. also not having the same success using NIL and all that will catch up to us at some point.

I don't dismiss this but hard to believe until I see us not bringing in top 3-5 classes nearly every year.

I'm pretty close to switching to that from ATT.
Only reason I haven’t is I get Thunder games on Bally Sports, whjch I get on ATT Uverse. Last year for them.

That’s why they’re now 10-4 playing by far the toughest schedule in the NFL. Now the Browns are the fakest 9-5 team in some time and that’s a product of playing in the inconsistent, mediocre AFC.

This isn’t college football. Style points don’t matter.
I mean, he may be off about the Eagles but no need to continue your foolish AFC bashing to try and counter his point and rip the Browns. Never mind also in by far the toughest division in the sport.

Think the AFC now up to 41-31.

The difference is that starting next year, it will only be about seeding and not leaving a team out.

Of course, they're going to give byes to the "best teams" because that's who they believe will provide the best matchups for the semi-finals and finals.

Using this year as an example, the committee might seed FSU lower because of their starting QB being out...but they'd still be in the playoff.
Not sure what they will do...but do like they at least have some guidelines they need to follow.

Can't wait.

AfC has 5 teams under .500 and 1 with less than 5 wins. NFC has 7 teams under .500 and 3 with less than 5 wins. But sure.
All I can do is laugh at anyone that actually cares which conference is better. Teams win, not conferences. We got the Niners and Ravens Monday night.

Yeah…

If someone gets the 5 seed and lose to the 12?

can’t really complain because they proved the committee right for not awarding the bye.
I don't think they should complain anyway (or not complain) based on results in the CFP.

It will be like other sports, though....Meaning, if a team with a bye loses their first game it will be blamed on rust. win and the rest helped them.

I still might switch and just pay an extra $20 or so per month to add Ballys.

I would check with someone that has it first. Tons of people around here complaining about it freezing and restarting all the time during games.

I only care in the sense of showing him how foolish his baseless opinions are. I mean, it's not like I'm cheering for AFC teams to beat NFC teams. In fact, it's the opposite.

Never understood the real conference fans....SEC fans.

I'm pretty close to switching to that from ATT.

I'm considering flipping to Hulu from YouTube TV and either getting the NBATV app (Hulu doesn't have NBATV) or just getting the NBA season pass (which I think I saw is 49.99 now?). Hulu comes packaged with DisneyTV.
