As shown by hiring Warren Sapp.

lol

@DJ you'll like this...

My sister was a huuuuge Warren Sapp fan until he went to the Raiders who she "hates with the white-hot intensity of 1,000 suns". Then she said he was "dead to her."

Her birthday wasn't too long after they got him, so her best friend and I got together and threw a surprise Raiders birthday party for her. We got silver and black decorations, Raiders decorations and even a Raiders cake.

We also got everyone who was invited to get her at least 1 Raiders gift (I got her a Warren Sapp Raiders jersey).

Gotta admit, she was a good sport and even wore the jersey I got her for the entire party.

I don’t like his chances, he lost me when he started bad mouthing his players, a lot of which he brought in. He won’t be able to get out of his own way.

You may very well be right. It'll be interesting to see. Although I do doubt that what seems to be his "style" can work at the college level.

my point is that they are not one of the 50 best teams in college football- probably way worse than that- and are highly highly unlikely to be top 50 next year

a team like UCLA is 10 times more relevant. A team like Wisconsin is 10 times more relevant. for shitssake Tulane is way more relevant.

the only reason they are in the news is because they have a big mouth as a head coach. The only reason- its not because they are any good or will be any good.

Oh, I definitely agree with all of that. He's definitely learning that it's a lot easier to build a program at the HBCU level than the P5 level. I don't think they can improve fast enough to keep up with his mouth.

Honestly, I'm kind of more excited about him than Ohtani. The Dodgers glaring weakness and what got them bounced early last year was starting pitching. Happy to have Ohtani's bat this year, but according to reports, he won't be able to pitch until the following year.

Yamamoto can pitch this year.

Also, I wonder how much is deferred. lol

Eagles having to pay Hurts a ton is a game changer for them- esp. long term.
Not for another 2 seasons. Check how it’s structured
paying him on the draft scale is one thing--- behind a great o-line with great weapons- and hes at 19 tds and 12 ints 33 sacks. Matt Stafford could do that in his sleep with that o-line and weapons - Kirk Cousins could sleep to those stats.
You need to evaluate QBs using stats instead of evaluating what you see on the field because you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I would take Trevor Lawrence over Hurts in a second. Tua in a second. Lamar easily. Next 3 years? Easily take Stroud. not even a question.
You can do whatever you like but this isn’t baseball. You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
Hurts is not even in the same conversation as Burrows, Herbert, Allen, Mahomes, etc.
You’ll see in February or March that Hurts will have surgery to repair his MCL.
Purdy its hard to tell- since he is in a great system, with great weapons- and makes no money so they can spend elsewhere. Prescott- who the hell knows from week to week.

Jaylen Hurts is not appreciably better than Jared Goff.
You’re making these decisions in a year in which he is hurt, has a new coordinator and the toughest schedule in the league. It’s pretty clear that a string of Dolphins, Commanders, Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills, Niners, Cowboys, @seattle took its toll on not just Hurts but the team. Bailing on Hurts is a hot take. If we aren’t talking baseball you really don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. In fact, you strike me as the guy whose mother never allowed him to play football.

what a joke.
Why? They’re committed to putting the best product on the field. You’re just angry because your team could never. WTF is an Asian guy gonna do in Cleveland, Ohio? How many times can you go to the Rock and Rorr Harr of Fame?

So stupid, money doesn’t buy World Series rings in baseball.
It buys you an opportunity to be in the mix for 6 of 7 years or 6 in an 8 year window. Small market teams can absolutely win WS. However, when they do it’s an anomaly and a one and done.

Are they still involved in the division race or did last night shut the door with two games to play? I’m not familiar with the South’s tiebreaker situation.

They still play the Bucs....it's between them for the South title.

I know a guy that works for DIRECTV. He is telling me they are being told Uverse and DIRECTV have no more than 2 more years max. Cable may survive in some form but not for long I don’t think.

fuck them anyway.

Detroit had no issue getting guys to sign. Your owner has to be willing to spend. The Tribe were easily a top 10 fanbase for a good 20 years and the ownership killed it.

in the NBA this definitely applies but with baseball it comes down to ownership. If your owner treats their baseball team like a year to year business rather than a multi decade investment they're in the wrong sport.

Now...I say all that to say that what the Dodgers are doing is unattainable for all but a handful of teams and is an absolutely atrocious precedent for where the sport will go.

I don't get this mindset.

The job of ownership is to do whatever they can, within the rules, to put the best team they can on the field.

Are teams supposed to not spend what they can because some other team can't spend as much?

Or is there some rule the Dodgers are breaking that I'm not aware of?
