His past performance? He hadn't played a down in almost 2 years

Vick sat an entire year before pulling his shit together.

This year is the tell. But yea...no way would I think Zappe or Howell will be any more than what Jacoby was...and that's at their very best.

I'm not really a fan of Zappe, I think that was a mirage. I do like Howell though, he was my pick of last year's crop going into the draft.

Sure, ignore the stats. He's right next to Carr in the rankings.

You have to guarantee that 5th year before the season Started…

I was a fan of both to be potential purdy types (less stylistically and more so role)

Zappe is a guy who if he can improve his arm strength (which we’ve seen guys do in the nfl) he has all the other tools to be a legit starter imo

The straw man argument is funny to a point. I merely stated that FOR THE GIANTS, it makes sense to pay the going rate to keep Jones. I doubt highly that Carr is looking to go to the Giants and he controls his destination with plenty of other suitors. After Carr and Geno (who I also don't believe is truly available, as the Seahawks will ante up to keep him at least short term) and maybe the oft-injured Jimmy G, Jones is the next best FA QB available before a sharp drop off to backup candidates (unless you're counting on a Baker resurgence lol). The Giants had success with Jones this year and should look for continuity. His stats are very comparable to Carr's last season (and Carr had an elite WR to work with).
My point is you selected one season...not the last 3 or 4....LOL.

I think the Pats are going to roll with him....instead of Mac.

What are you basing growth in 2023 and beyond on for Watson? Sure, the hope is that he improves. Right now, it's looking like an overpay, much like DangeRuss.
Not even so much growth as it is getting back to being the guy he was before he was out for nearly 2 seasons. I guess basing it on the hope the 50+ games he had played were more indicative than the last 6?

That is key.

Has anyone informed you that Meyer no longer is Ohio State's coach? :heh:

I always get a good laugh outta your avatar.

His cover-up for Z. Smith was disgusting.

That is the only season under the tutelage of Brian Daboll, thus all that matters to this regime.

Cleveland is a much different situation than Houston though, with actual expectations. We can point to a better defense and OL, but shouldn't that have impacted his performance this year?

You think the g men got lucky? Puh lease they will be right back at the top of the nfc this year
They could be. I want to see what they do in the off season. Outside of Saquon, their weapons are garbage. They’re improved on the OL but it’s hard to not improve upon God awful. Wink did a great job with the defense hiding warts with blitz. Let’s see how the league adjusts.

Being off for 2 years would

The early results were not good for sure...but too early to jump the shark.

I don't love the contract but as of now I'm still feeling better about it than Kyler or Russ's

They still will be the 3rd best team in the NFC East....don't see them making the kind of moves needed to surpass Philly and maybe not Dallas but didn't realize how many FA's they have.....so they might get to the 2nd best.

Maybe.

So pointless to bring up Carr and Jones since it's a small sample size.

Shouldn't Carr's numbers from last season be his best, given the addition of Adams and Jacob's strong year? Your apologist tendencies for Carr are a bit much, lol.

If he doesn't rebound to be the Houston version of DW it will set them back big time.

Not saying he can't....I loved the trade, despite the negative press, but he should be able to get better than what he showed.

Yeah, those two are shaky as well. The Cards were in a tough spot with Kyler last winter, but it things are looking bad. Russ, much like Watson, has an opportunity for a bounce back season.
