He is but I'd even give more credit to an elite FO. Been great at finding/developing pitchers for a while. Great to see some of their hitters coming up and contributing.

Good point. Someone in the FO has a great eye for talent.

Yankees actually got off well. Did not want to face Seattle or Toronto. Will take my chance with tampa or Cleveland
I agree. I am glad the Guardians got the Rays too and avoid the Astros in the 2nd round if they happen to win in the first round.

Blue Jay's hitting and Mariners pitching are both great units- and they both have weapons on the other side as well.

Glasnow being back moves the needle a little bit- and I expect he can go 5- maybe 6 innings, but you know he is not going deeper than that.

Rays starting pitching is going to be very tough with McClanahan, Glasnow- and then some combination of Springs and Rasmussen. That is a very deep and talented rotation.

I think that McClanahan and Glasnow- as far as pure stuff goes- are def among the top 5 pitchers in the AL. Glasnow wont be completely stretcehd out but I expect him to go at least 4, up to as many as 6 IP.

Watching Glasnow the other day was just unreal. I dont know how anyone hits him. His breaking stuff is incredible and his fastball is unreal. Dude just keeps getting hurt. Honestly- just pure stuff- he is as good as anyone in baseball.

The only “lead-off” kind of attribute Schwarber brings is that he sees a lot of pitches in his at bats. Other than that, seems like a square peg in a round hole.

Lead off is only guaranteed in the first inning, which is why the geeks have shifted priorities. However, hitting more fewer runners on base in most opportunities is a waste of his big bat (and as noted the RBI opportunites). At least the universal DH has improved those opportunities a bit.

Guardians are anywhere from +3000 to +4000 to win the World Series...

at +4000 if I let my $550 in winnings for fantasy baseball ride I can get a little over $22,000.

no?

I’ll take that bet and I’ll pay $33,000 cause it’s free money for me. I’ll give you 6.2 trillion gabillion 1.21 jiggawatts dollars cause I’m not going to have to pay out.

you'd probably be safe but of all the Tribe teams to make the playoffs since 1995 could argue the 2 least likely teams to win it all went the furthest (1997 and 2016).

True.....1996, 1999 and 2007 were prob. the best teams since the 1995 team.

That 1999 team still has the most runs scored for a team in a season in modern baseball history----- since 1950

1999 Tribe---most runs for any baseball team since 1950.

Jim Thome: .277 avg., .426 obp 101 runs, 33 hr 108 rbi
Roberto Alomar: .323 avg., .422 obp 138 runs, 24 hr, 120 rbis, 37 steals
Omar Vizquel .333 avg., .397 obp, 112 runs, 42 steals
Kenny Lofton .301 avg., .405 obp, 110 runs, 25 steals (missed a lot of time)
Manny Ramirez .333 avg., 131 runs, .442 obp 96 runs, 44 homers, 165 rbis
David Justice .287 avg., .412 obp, 75 runs, 21 homers, 88 rbis

wonder when the last team that had 5 guys with 100+ runs, and 6 guys with OBP's of .397 or more.

1009 runs. No other team any of us has seen has scored 1,000 runs.
