I thought what happened Thursday was far worse. Likely what happened to him Sunday happens to someone in every game. Might they have messed up? Sure. But we don't know and nor does anyone who didn't examine nor talk to Tua.

Of course nobody here knows.

But all anyone is saying is that is definitely LOOKED like a concussion.

It has now been established that the doc made a few mistakes with the protocol, so it is quite possible that he doesn’t know either.

And I might even say likely that the doctor got it wrong.

It's pretty telling that in MMA, if you get rocked, fall down, get up wobbly, the ref will jump in and stop the fight (and many commissions won't let you fight for weeks after) but if the same thing happens in a football game, the NFL is like "nah, he's good to go. Get back out there next play"

I could wait and start Verlander vs. Philly- but I am kind of afraid they will not let him pitch the whole game- any opinions on this?

The weather has the Wheeler start today up in jeopardy. They may have to play that game on Thursday if it’s still needed. If they play Thursday I don’t think that’s Wheeler’s start. Wheeler would likely get pushed to the start in Houston on Monday. Just a heads up.

I have to hit Mass then breakfast with the family. Have to go tutor my niece for an hour then we have to hit a party for one of the wife’s cousin’s kid’s Baptism (that’s a shit ton of possession). Hate watching the Eagles in a big group like that with people who think they know what they’re talking about when it comes to football.

It’s not always consistent across the board in MMA that a ref will stop the fight. I’ve seen fights where the refs will let them continue to go.

Also in MMA you are just about guaranteed to get hit in the head during a fight. For any knock out / tko, the Nevada athletic commission automatically suspends you for three months. If Tua had a mild concussion from the Bills game, he’d be out for the season.
