actually Guardians are younger than the typical AAA team. lol.......it was supposed to pretty much be a rebuilding year - but the kids have played pretty well for the most part. Great part is most of their best prospects - some of their "can't miss" (or probably more accurately for ANY minor league player- the "highly likely not to miss") are still in the minors.

Especially SP....Keith Law just had them with 3 of the top 25 SP in the minors.

Also helps to have Ramirez, Bieber and Clase.

I think its safe to say Clase can be, if not the best closer in baseball, certainly in the conversation with maybe 1 or 2 other guys.

He has given up 2 ER since May 1st in 37 IP and is 19/20 for saves in that span.

total on the season 44.1 IP, 46k's, 1.22 ERA, , 0.68 WHIP. 23/25 on saves.

7.7 K to BB ration is what really stand out for me.

it looks like the progression of Naylor and stubborn-ness of giving young prospects away were the main reasons. I have no problem with it if they think Naylor is the real deal. The have pitching depth in the minors but catcher was a big need. Eventuallu they are going to be log jammed at certain positions and will make a trade, the fit has to be there. I think if there was one guy it was Murphy. I didn’t want Contreras.

Figured acquiring a C came down to what they thought Bo Naylor's ceiling was and how soon he could play here. Because no one got him certainly possible As either wanted to keep Murphy and/or were asking to much.

I would have stayed pat as well. They aren’t getting a wildcard in the AL and you don’t need to add pieces just to be the tallest midget in the horrid AL Central.

Yes. To upgrade to get a arguably a top 5 QB.
The goal is to make your team as good as possible. Not sure what that has to do with the comparison between Baker and Brissett. Brissett is the backup that would be starting in place of the starter. Watson, who was traded for Baker, a huge upgrade, that doesn’t mean Baker isn’t a starter in this league. Brissett is not starter caliber. Could be a decent pin in place until Watson plays

That's a bit exaggerated, lol. Baker was going to be orphaned with or without that trade. It took forever to even trade him for a late pick because nobody wanted to inherit that decision to pay him after this season.

If Baker is a starter, it's because there aren't enough viable guys for 32 teams with injury attrition. Otherwise, the price of a 3rd day pick for a starting QB would've been snapped up immediately.
