just for some background- most people do not understand probate.

IF you have a bank account- that is joint with someone- or lists them as the POD (payable on death)- it goes directly to that person- your Will does not control at all- it is a "non probate asset".

the only things that go through a will are probate assets- meaning- they have no beneficiary, no transfer on death, no payable on death, no joint account, etc.....

so- this guy takes care of his wife outside of probate with bank accounts he has joint with her- and assumes everything else goes to his son through his will- all the other assets that do not have her on it--- the kid is the sole beneficiary of his will

little did the dad know- because he did not consult a lawyer- that in Ohio a surviving spouse can "elect to take against the will" which means she throws the will out and gets a statutory share- which with 1 step child is 1/2 the estate, up to 65k worth of vehicles, a 40k spousal allowance, and allowed to stay in the mansion home for 1 year

So- even though the dad took care of her outside of his probate estate--- the son has to share well over half the probate assets with the step mom that the dad never intended for her to get- but he didnt know a surviving spouse can throw the will out and take a statutory share.

I didn't think I'd feel bad for Griner, especially given her stance with the country, etc. But she's the victim of politics, and being stuck in Russia of all places truly sucks. For her sake, I really hope she's not spending the next 9 years of her life in a Russian prison.

because QB's of Watson's talent level never become available. Literally never in the past 30 years of the league has a QB with Watson's talent been available- and obviously he would not have become available if not for the ongoing issues.

Even withthe issues- at least 4 teams offered 3 first round picks- and a dozen other teams were interested and likely offered as much or close to as much but were eliminated by Watson's team before the next step occured.

You could literally draft a first round QB every year for 10 years and not get anyone close to Watson's level.

Imagine if our FO hadn't passed on him the first time

My brother loves that stuff- but personally I cannot stand sports history. It is just not relevant to me. I want to see what is coming- not look back on these guys with faux glory.
