in Fangraphs history they have only had 1 FV 80 player. Can anyone guess?

the price was high but not as high as I expected.

I think the jewels of the package were 2 players- Medina and Waldichuck are both 50 FV prospects.

if anyone does not know- the MLB scouting rankings scale is on a 20-80 scale. 50 represents a major league average player.

just for some perspective--- before the season started - there was 1 70FV player in the minors- Adley Reutschman on the Orioles.

Prospects #2 through #15 were 65 or 60 FV

Prospects 16-32 were 55 FV

so there are only 32 prospects at hte beginning of the year that had an FV over 50........so 50 is a pretty damn good prospect.

It is super difficult just to get to 60......70 is practically unheard of.....80 is basically impossible.

Espino - if he can stay healthy- which is always a question with young pitchers- is just going to be great.

Keith Law just came out with his "mid-season" top 60 prospect and the Guardians had 5 of them---- and thats with the graduations of guys like Kwan, Jones.....

3of them were starting pitchers- Espino, Williams and Bisbee. Williams has really shot up boards- as has Bisbee.

I mean- they could get Soto if they wanted. Even if they dealt Espino they would still have 3 top 100 pitchers in Williams, Bisbee and Allen.

Those fangraphs rankings have changed a lot since midseason of course.

AS the article says- I would not be surprised if they looked to deal guys like Martinez, Freeman, Tena.....they would still have Arias, Rocchio in the middle infield. Lavistada can go too with Naylor coming on.

They have chips.

if they got Mahle and Murphy they would def. be a playoff team....and both are controlled after this year. If the price is right I would get those 2.

If RG changes the suspension only thing Watson can do is go to federal court which will take a year or more.

So he could play this year but it puts next years 46 million in jeopardy......

Sure that discipline was ridiculous but it seems like everyone in their mom thinks 6 is too low. You think 6 is fine?

For 4 cases without any real evidence? It's somewhere in the middle of the potential outcomes. Without knowing what was presented to her, I can't pretend to know what is appropriate. The NFL does better (or should do better) with cut and dry cases of physical violence and broken laws without nuance.

Of course they did, plus 3 or 4 more top prospects. Nats are asking for the moon, will be interesting to see what they actually net (if anything, they could overplay their hand). After two more years of arbitration eligibility, he can walk anywhere; anyone who gives up all those prospects also has to break the bank long term.

It’s the most popular sports league in the nation and we are in a moment where media takes up social causes and that’s even filtered into the sports world. There is no football being played right now. It’s still about 2 weeks before most teams are into their preseason schedule. Then you’ll get another swell of articles and commentary when he returns from suspension.

....and the Browns celebrated at camp when 6 games was announced. Football will go on as it always has and the furor will be a murmur in the background soon enough. Sucks for the victims, but it's the truth. It was always about saving face while maintaining the quality of league play.
