Still...how do you let your husband name your son Wolfgang?

If the husband is a classical music fan he probably knows that composer Mozart's legal name was Johann Chrysostum WOLFGANG Amadeus Mozart.

Doubtful that will work this year, I'm sure even if they do bid on Beltran they will have a very strict amount set to spend and if they see the contract price go above that they will be out of the bidding faster than you can say unity beard.

What's your priority. Putting a competitive team on the field, or getting under a self-imposed salary figure?

I get the luxury tax implications, as they will pay 50% on the amount over as opposed to re-setting to 17.5% in 2015 if they stay under in 2014.

The real dollars aspect of it is this. If the Yankees spend $200mm this season, they pay a penalty of $5mm. If they go over by $20mm in 2015, they pay $10mm.

These are the Yankees, and they waste more than that wiping their asses with $100 bills.

My personal priority would be break the bank and get back in the post season, but it really doesn't matter what my priority is because I have nothing to do with the Yankee front office.

It's not my show.

I just don't see them breaking the bank.

In fact I can easily see them getting a protected top 10 pick to go along with their return to financial insanity in 2015.

I understand that. I just wanted your personal view if you were running the show.

It just seems penny-wise/dollar foolish to me. As I said the other day, if they re-sign Cano, add 2 pitchers and an OF, they will be pushing that number. It seems silly to let a quality player walk away if it pushes them over by a few million and risk another non-playoff season.

Sometimes you have to rip it all down to build it all back up stronger than it was.

From the NY Post:

The Yankees believe dipping below $189 million could save them as much as $100 million over the next two years (adding up money not spent, money saved in the future with a lower tax rate and a revenue-sharing rebate) and better position them to spend aggressively — with fewer penalties for doing so — for the 2015 season and beyond.

I am not sure how that number comes about.

They spent $228mm last season, so that immediately saves $39mm. I believe they paid luxury tax on an amount of about $53mm, so that is another $26.5mm, bringing the total to $65.5mm right there for 2014. If they incurred the same penalty on the same $228mm for 2015, that is another $26.5mm, and then the saved $39mm once again. That is $132mm not counting the revenue sharing rebate. These numbers are all approximated.

My point is that just by dropping payroll to $200mm, they would save $56mm over the next 2 seasons in payroll, and $33mm in luxury tax savings. That is $90mm.

Granted, $42mm isn't chump change, but when you are the Yankees and the difference between spending an extra $10mm or not could be the difference between making the playoffs or not, the decision seems foolish. And that $42mm is spread over 2 seasons.

My boss said he was gonna work from home today. I just saw his dumbass. If he comes over here & starts bugging me, I'm gonna "have PMS & feel sick" and go home.

More like -

Client - I never got overpaid. And, even if I did, it was not my fault. And, i'm a single mother, so....

Just once I would love to remind my cleints that it was us that gave them money in the first place, meaning, we are not taking "their" money, as much as we are just taking back some of what we gave.'

Idiots and ingrates for the most part. And, obviuosly not concerned about my time ( by calling in the noon/lunch hour ), but only their own.

The husband was Eddie Van Halen.

It's not unknown for rock musicians to have studied classical music.

A co-tenant friend of mine who is the most avid Beatles fan I've ever met assures me that John
Lennon loves the music of my favorite composer Johannes Brahms.
