Restore, its a variation w/c offense... we are clearly a running team first... and that is what happens when we pound their line after 23-24 carries... that is what the coaching staff looks for. tiring out their line, setting up a big run in the 2nd half, no?

lets see if this continues... You of course don't have to like him, but that also means I am allowed to....)

Dan, I have always been impressed with Brian Leonard... yes, he deserves more touches!

The long run had more to do with the right play call against a team jailbreaking to try and get the ball back in the last few min. to have any shot at winning. I don't think it had anything to do with tiring out Clevlands line. We had way too many 3 and outs for them to be tired.....

Yes it's a run first offense, not denying that at all. Just saying Benson brings very little to the table. Feel free to like him all you want, but Leonard is a much more complete back in my opinion, without all the drama.

That being said I hope Ced busts off a couple long TD runs Sunday.

Until the big run he had what 23-24 carries for about 80 yards.....

He does nothing for me. Would love to see leonard as the starter. Atleast he doesn't pout when things are not going his way.....

Yes I cheered loudly when Ced scored. Doesn't mean I have to like him though.

If you take away every running backs big run, all their numbers look pedestrian. To ignore that fact is ignorant at best.

Cam Newton had a great day, but he didn't throw any ball 80 yards. He threw one about 35 yards and Steve Smith did the rest. Should Newton or Smith not get credit for yards after the catch?

No doubt. Most RB's have one big run that gives them their #'s. FOr example if you took away AP's 50 yard run or whatever it was yesterday his #'s would obviously be pretty bad (but you cant or you shouldnt unless you're trying to make a ridiculous argument).

I know people on here are shitting all over B. Scott today...but I still like the guy. I think he can make plays and could be really good as a recieving back. Leonard I only like as a situational 3rd down guy. I think Benson and Scott should get the vast majority of looks at RB

1. Benson had a really good day. If the Oline was a little better it would have been outstanding. He got hit in the backfield before he even got going 5-6 times. If the Oline blocks even remotely well he is sitting at about 100 yards at 23 carries. He was constantly breaking 6-8 yard runs. If you watch people like Peterson and CJ then you see they get 2,3,1,2,3 then all of a sudden boom 50 yards. You gonna take those out too?

2. Newton picked that D apart. He made Dalton look like a JV QB. This is just one game yes, but to not be impressed by that game is showing full haterism.

Just wanted to step in and say congrats. I know I predicted a Browns win so I'll take my beatings. Didn't get to see the game though since I was at the Ravens game.

disagree, because we just said he had 23 carries before then, right?

lets see if this continues this year, Ced's best runs being late in the 3rd, and 4th quarter....then you would have a trend, and some of the credit would indeed go to tiring out the front.....

okay, I've beaten the horse to death here lol... a win Sunday would be nice!

Leonard is the best RB on this team.

Umm...no he wasn't.

Thats the thing about a back like CJ or AP, they usually break a big run every game. Benson is supposed to be a "bell cow", and that is all he brings to the table. For a "bruiser" I just don't think he is that great.

Benson just isn't good. I'd be happy to pick up another RB via draft of FA for next season. Also, since somebody mentioned him, on Twitter, Rey was very unsatisfied with his play, and said he needed to do a better job.

I was trying to give Newton credit man. Shessh!

I was impressed with that game very much so. I am trying to be honest though. I can't wait until we get to play Arizona's defense. That secondary looks pathetic.

I don't know why we have to keep dragging poor Dalton down when discussing Newton. He was the #1 overall pick, we had #4. He was never going to be a Bengal. Instead we got AJ Green and later on Dalton who I think can be a pretty good QB in the mold of Pennington. He made every QB in NFL history look JV, as Payton Manning had held the record with 315 yards. You saw him in his preseason games..he obviously didn't look near that good. He had a good day, every QB has those once in a while.

Their 50 yard runs don't come when the game doesn't mean jack anymore. 4 yards or 50 yards in that situation was the same thing. Meaningless.

Benson had a less than average day yesterday. That last run made it look like he had a very good day. Empty stat.

how many times have we had someone on this team who "didn't want to be here?".... and are you really standing by your statement it didn't make a difference... do I really need to recount here???

please

it "the situation" becomes a cancer in the locker room, dividing it, and screwing up any team chemistry. totally naive if you don't think it will matter IMO..... we won the first game, we have young hungry players, we don't need an overpaid QB who is mid level at best now..... and does not want to be in Cincinnati......

When you figure out the difference between a QB and a RB, WR, etc, then come talk to me.

Apples and oranges.

In case you forgot. The offense SUCKED. Who gives a shit if they won. Or if they played their asses off. They still SUCKED. I want wins, not just effort.

I wish they would replace Benson....he's a thug, and imo not a very good human being....I resent having to cheer for his success....all that said, as he was headed toward the end zone I was on my feet cheering loudly....when you root for a Mike Brown owned team you take what you can get......

It was only 20-17, The Browns hadn't given up yet. The game wasn't over, one stop and the Browns could have set up a tying field goal. persistence is a virtue, he's not as good at CJ or Peterson, no way. But to say the run came at a meaningless time is not accurate, that run was the nail in the coffin.

WRONG! But keep believing it man, keep believing it.

OK you convinced me. I guess thats why Bensons numbers are usually pedestrian, he rarely gets a long run.

I honestly can't believe anyone sees anything in this turd.

good news is if he kicks ass next week, I won't have to start a new thread to eat crow on!

You cant just take stats away when it suits your argument..and as others had said at the time Cleveland had every reason to stop Benson only down by 3 points...it's what they call 'crunch time'. Wasnt like the game was over.
