Johnny CuetoSP35.6RRSF$22,000,000-

Kevin GausmanSP30.7LRSF$18,900,000$22,474,866
i expect L>A> DODGERS............+ to sign thee own guys.........Kershaw and taylor....but who knows

Max ScherzerMax Scherzer said Clayton Kershaw shared some nice words after the outing. “Hopefully I’m here and be able to watch his 3,000th strikeout as well,” Scherzer said. Kershaw is at 2653....well..he may want..to stay in ..L.A......
but hopefully..hewill at least consider..the...mariners...

bauer...may be ....flailing...that..is too bad....for him...we will ...see ...cuz ...nothing i know...of has ...came out about it...but i dont check on those ....kind of things.......but it could ruin his basebal...career..anyway.......moving on

Zack Greinke/..The right-hander says his arm feels great, and although having regressed speed behind his pitches, Greinke isn’t feeling soreness like he has before early in spring training. While having a 4.03..not 1st on my list..cuz of..regresstion/............

Justin Verlander 35 IL-60..One injured player who won't rejoin the Astros this season: Justin Verlander. Verlander had Tommy John surgery last October, and
Verlander, 38, started Opening Day last July 24 and has not pitched since. He is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, and although he is coming off a major arm injury, Verlander figures to appeal to contenders given his pedigree and the fact he is likely to sign a short-term contract at his age and coming off surgery. An extension with the Astros shouldn't be ruled out.

my list/.......

Ya!
I've been ranting for some time now about why don't players bunt up the 3rd base line when the shift is on. There is no one over there!
Heck, just a little more on it and Kelenic would have had a bunt double.

Anyway to get on base, particularly when Mitch is coming up to bat.
Wasn’t exactly asking opinions on the bunt to be the shift, more talking about how as a board we all stand on bunting when up that much.

Free-agent righty Kevin Gausman has until 5pm ET today to decide whether he plans to accept the Giants’ $18.9MM qualifying offer or reject it in favor of fully testing free agency. While Marcus Stroman’s decision to accept the Mets’ QO led to natural speculation that Gausman would take the same route — both are represented by agent Brodie Scoffield — Gausman isn’t a lock to do so. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Gausman has already received multi-year offers and is weighing those against the QO. The Giants are among the teams to have made a multi-year offer, Rosenthal adds.
It stands to reason that any multi-year offers for Gausman check in south of the QO’s average annual value, but historically speaking, free agents have been willing to sacrifice some AAV in order to secure a larger overall guarantee. If Gausman were to receive three-year offers in the $13-15MM range, for instance, that could certainly prompt him to forgo the heftier one-year payday.
The alternative, of course, is to take that $18.9MM sum, hope to bolster his stock with another strong year and return to free agency next winter without the burden of a qualifying offer; players can only receive one qualifying offer in their career, under the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement.
It should be emphasized that Gausman needn’t make a final decision on a multi-year contract today. All he’s required to do by this afternoon is simply accept or reject the qualifying offer. If he rejects, he could still take the coming days, weeks or even months to explore the market in hopes of securing a larger multi-year offer than the ones he has already received. The fact that Stroman is no longer on the market is surely a notable factor. Gausman was already among the market’s more appealing free-agent starters, and one of the names alongside him in the second tier (behind Trevor Bauer) is now off the board.
Bauer is in a class of his own this winter, but Gausman is arguably the best remaining option after him. Masahiro Tanaka and Jake Odorizzi join him as solid mid-rotation options, and the market also features several high-ceiling veterans looking to rebound from injury-marred campaigns (e.g. Corey Kluber, James Paxton). Charlie Morton could be deemed the second-best arm on the market, but he’s limiting himself geographically and is expected to command a short-term deal given his

Free Agent Outlook: As great as 2021 has been for Gausman, one thing he’ll have going against him is the quality of the starting pitchers in the 2022 free agent class. Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Marcus Stroman and Robbie Ray are just a few of the quality starting pitchers set to hit the market this offseason. Even so, Gausman is certainly set to cash in on a big-money, long-term deal. Spotrac does not have a figure for Gausman’s market value, but with how well he has pitched this season it’s hard to see him getting anything less than $20M AVA.

Honestly, I'm ok with it. First, game isn't over. Second, if you bunt on the shift, it may make them play more honest in the next game. Third, large leads is a time to work on things, and no matter who's at the plate, nearly every MLBer needs to work on their bunting.

Spotrac

@spotrac

The #Mets aren’t relevant, but Noah Syndergaard’s start tonight, his first since September 2019, certainly is.

The 29 year old is set to become a free agent this winter, & a healthy Thor can upgrade any staff. Plenty of teams will b

Agreed, I've never understood the thought that you should stop playing when your team has a big lead. Like last year I think when people got pissed when Tatis hit a grand slam when up big. Who cares? Game is still being played, mash that thing.

It is the weird unspoken rules of baseball. What Tatis should’ve led to either him or Machado getting blasted. Not advocating for him to get drilled but on different times with different management it could’ve caused a big deal. But seems consensus it we were all cool with it.
