Even Wanker thinks Kelenic, or anyone else for that matter, is better.

It's insane that he's still in the lineup.

It does suck because for the last couple of months you have been able to count on random players to come through. But right now, with injuries plus it seems everyone is slumping at the same time. Not sure how anyone can say Crawford or France has spot penciled in next year. They need a real SS and a 1B/DH and Crawford move to 2B and France playing DH/1B. With how France is playing Evan White is an upgrade and with Winker and Haniger when they’ve played Kelenic is an upgrade. Just a terrible time for all of it to fall apart.

Hopefully it is the opposite of 2001 where everyone went into the playoffs hot, then all slumped against an inferior Yankees squad. But Canada lifting their vaccine requirement actually is a great thing for the Mariners. And with that mandate coming down, these games don’t mean anything besides practice and hopefully aligning the rotation. Yeah it blows they won’t have a home game in the first round, but set it up the wild card round to where they are guaranteed home games in the divisional round.

Ill say that hitting slumps and playing slumps are gonna happen. This team played at a ridiculous level for 2.5 months so if you are gonna slump i guess now is better then two weeks from now.

However there is absolutely unequivocally zero excuse for winker to be playing the field. I dont have the numbers and I am not gonna look them but he will guarantee cost you a base in the field at least once a game. I mean its guaranteed. To make matters worse, he literally made the last out the inning before, so if the excuse to play him is we need his bat (lol no we dont he has no bat) then at the very least you could have made a defensive sub after his last ab because that spot was not guaranteed to come up again.

Its September 22nd and you are fighting for a playoff spot/positioning. If you are gonna try to win these games and the fact that you are playing Julio, Mitch and Cal when they arent 100% suggests you are, then put your team in an optimal postion to win.
Jesse Winker is not 2019-2021 Jesse Winker. Jesse Winker is 2022 Jesse Winker. Again I'll say its September 22nd, he is what he is. He is the 2022 version. Stop waiting for him to come around, that time is done. You called up Kelenic for what, just play him and see what you have. Haggerty and Kelenic may not hit a lick but they wont cost you bases in the field. Get over yourselves and admit the move to acquire him was failure and move on. Thank goodness Suarez is killing it at least
