Pulp Fiction -- If not invented, they popularized the concept of a non linear story, plus lots of great characters and dialogue.

I think Reservoir Dogs was made before Pulp Fiction.

A perfect script:
Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels

also: Shaun of the Dead

I would add Snatch to those 2.

Have you seen Memento? If not, it is awesome.

I was going to suggest that.

As far as a black and white film, Clerks.

Never saw it, adding it to the list.
Not nearly as long, so if you don't like it, no biggie.

But German, similar time period as Metropolis, though I think I bit later.

Clerks is damn good. You ever saw the original ending before the final cut came out? Really would have ruined the film.

Agreed, Memento is pretty great.

I would add "The Usual suspects" to the list of awesome mind benders
Loved me some Usual Suspects. Ending made me lose it. Seven is also awesome. Pitt and Freeman were great.

Took a film class in college on Camp films (took it because of the teacher who I loved, but he passed mid semester). Had no freaking idea what I was getting myself into. We watched Pulp Fiction for the first film, The Stepford Wives the second, then it was like creepy stuff and I stoped going to our weekly night viewings.

Saw Flash Gordon in that class, I found it to be miserable.

There are a lot of really bad campy films as well. Some people love those films because they are so bad.

Disagree. If we are going to add to the perfect script category, I’d add... hmmmm .... A Simple Plan maybe.

Sometimes things get so overhyped there’s no way the product can live up to the reputation. Guess what? Casablanca doesn’t suffer from that. There’s a reason why it’s renowned.

Nailed it! Double Indemnity is probably my favorite movie of all time.

Others I would add.

Key Largo
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Five Star Final
Conflict
The Sea Wolf
Dead Reckoning
To Have and Have Not
High Sierra

Humphrey Bogart used to the man. But mostly in black and white

Every single time I watch this movie, I'm astonished as to the brilliance in the writing, direction, and acting. Every. Single. Time. It doesn't even take itself too seriously. It's quite close to a perfect movie.
