You do realize the SEC West was undefeated OOC during the regular season?

Alabama beat WVU, Auburn beat Kansas State, Ole Miss beat Boise State, LSU beat Wisconsin, A&M and Mississippi State didn't really play anybody and Arkansas beat Texas Tech(I know they're awful but still a P5) and Northern Illinois(MAC Champs finished 11-2) People were giving the SEC(especially the West) credit because it was due. How can they have proved that they were overrated during the year when literally the only teams they lost to were other SEC teams?

It was shown that the SEC teams were not as good as advertised and therefor any calculation that gave Bama a high SoS base off of that was incorrect.

Malzahn (and Saban, too) is really whining about the SEC losing the considerable advantage of perception of strength. It's no longer as big a factor in the playoff era because the teams in the CFP must earn the chance to participate in the NC game. They are no longer anointed by the media (primarily driven by ESPN).

Once a team like Alabama has been beaten as they were in the 2014 bowl season, teams no longer see them as invulnerable, and Alabama's players see that they are vulnerable, too. That's the "something" that has changed not the NFL draft process as Saban claimed. Nick Saban says NFL Draft process impacted loss to Ohio State

We are in agreement. I was stating that just playing the number 1 team is not the only factor playing a role in the SoS.
