Except Saban never actually used that as an excuse and it was nothing but media trying to drive clicks/views that brought it.

It was pretty pathetic journalism in general. Kind of crap you might expect on a message forum, not from people who claim to be professionals. Not a single person actually asked him anything about Ohio St directly. Not a single one of them asked Saban to clarify if that is what he meant. Not a single one of them took any of his other quotes where he gives Ohio St all the credit in the world.

He was interviewed by Finebaum later in the day and Finebaum asked him etc. And Saban said directly it wasn't an excuse, wasn't try to make an excuse and gave all the credit to Ohio St(as would be expected).

Nick Saban says NFL Draft process impacted loss to Ohio State

Sounds a lot like an excuse.

I didn't say that, I said when they played good teams in the bowls they lost and showed they were over-ranked.

Who tOSU played was a big problem and almost cost them a shot. Yes they were in the same scenario yet did not get the SoS credit the SEC did when it turns out it was not so deserved.

You said:

When they finally played good teams they lost.

So the only good team Ohio St played out of conference was VT, and you lost that game. And VT wasn't really even good.

So why did Ohio St deserve to be in the playoffs if you think this is the case?

Number of times Ohio St was mentioned in any question he was asked that day? 0.

When he talked about where we came up short last year, he talked about not being physical enough and giving up big explosive plays in the secondary. AKA what we lacked against Ohio St.

In the quote you are talking about, he was responding to a direct question he was asked about in terms of the NFL being a distraction. To which any coach who has players who get drafted or might get drafted is likely going to agree with him.

Coach is asked a question, he gives an honest response on what the difficulties are for a coach during that time of the year, and all the haters want to do is take it out of context in order to get clicks with all the haters.

Again, so Wisconsin must not be good then? Also, the SEC still went 7-5 during the bowl season.

So he is asked about what they were lacking in the Ohio State game and he goes to something that happened two and a half weeks earlier and blames that. His players were afraid to make hits because of a fear to be injured. If Urban Meyer had said that 99% of the SEC fans would destroy him on it, and you know it.

He's reaching for excuses and you are making excuses for those excuses. Either that or he has lost his ability to motivate his players and keep them focused. Auburn and Oklahoma last year and Ohio State this year.

Saban didn't have to mention Ohio State to make an excuse. Ohio State didn't whine about the NFL draft being a distraction. From the link: "Of course, Alabama isn’t the only team affected by the NFL Draft. The Buckeyes had four underclassmen wrestling with decisions about whether they should forfeit their remaining collegiate eligibility and head to the pros. Three Crimson Tide underclassmen – T.J. Yeldon, Amari Cooper, and Landon Collins – declared for the NFL shortly after the Sugar Bowl loss; two more – Reggie Ragland and Jerran Reed – decided to stick around for one more year."

We was not asked about Ohio St at all that day.

When he mentioned where we needed to improve, it was in his opening statements.

Read the transcript for yourself.

What Alabama coach Nick Saban said at SEC Media Days Wednesday | NOLA.com

It's going to be a challenge for our team to re-establish the identity that we would like to play with. We want to be more physical, tougher on the line of scrimmage, be relentless in the way that we compete so that we're never affected by what happens in a game, that we can keep playing at a high level on a consistent basis, and that we take care of the ball and do the kind of things to execute with consistency that's going to give our team the best chance to have success. These are things that we need to improve on. We did not finish the season the way we wanted to last year in terms of the way we played. And some of these things, we turned the ball over too much at the end of the season, we gave up too many explosive plays on defense, we gave up too many points because of a combination of all those things. So we need to improve in all those areas.

Nobody cares about the scrub coaches, he's not all up in peoples heads like Saban/Bama. :2cents:

Mike Gundy is only relevant when he whines, cries or screams.

So he does it all the time.

VT showed they were not that good. I never said they were.

When you compare tOSU vs. Baylor, the end of the season for tOSU was much better and dominant than Baylor. However it could be argued and has been that the loss Baylor had to WVU was a "better loss" than what tOSU. If you go by than then Baylor should have got the nod. Luckily for us Buckeye fans that didn't happen.

Reportedly, Gus Malzahn has claimed the SEC is at a "disadvantage" in the CFP because. . . wait for it. . . other conferences are "fresher." Apparently, SEC teams are worn out from playing each other. Never mind the fact that the majority of SEC teams schedule a November "breather" into their November slates--a league game is played earlier rather than later in the season as with Auburn's season-opener vs. Arkansas or South Carolina's vs. Texas A&M last year. But, it suggests that the specific fatigue issue shouldn't be an issue at all. Alabama, for example, had both a bye and a game vs. mighty Western Carolina over its final six weeks while Ohio State played six consecutive Big Ten opponents. "Freshness" is just another "excuse," and Malzahn is just another whining SEC coach trying to spin an old narrative. It's embarrassing.
Um... Your post comes across as whiny/bitchy. Take a note: Calling out other for being whiny/bitchy is a whiny/bitchy thing to do.

Will the SEC ask the NCAA to get rid of the Playoff format & return to the BCS system?:noidea:

If Alabama doesn't win it this year, you can bet Saban will. After all, it's not safe for the players to play that extra game.

You mean lucky for the Buckeyes people who know football aren't so stupid as to think 1 OOC game somehow decides the season.
