The OL was a complete mess until about week 10 or 11, but I guess we'll just totally discount that part. Palmer would have been on IR before Halloween with this line. You can say "MVP Palmer" all you want, but we're still talking about a mid-30s QB who has NEVER won a playoff game.

You mean like this?

Seems like some of you really want to make this a quality troll thread.

Pettine didn't say anything particularly obnoxious. The ESPN writer is making a meal out of the story.

As for Wilson. He is not one of the top 3 QBs in the league right now. He still doesn't have the body of work to support that claim. But he most certainly is playing one of the top 3 QBs in the league right now.

Let's see what Pettine's opinion of Wilson is after Sunday.
Exactly. He said he wasn't Brady or Brees or Big Ben yet. He didn't say he was a scrub

Some of you Seahawks act like Pat fans with your insecurity, the way you get so easily offended and the thickness of your homer glasses.

Relax. This is the pacific northwest. We don't define our self worth by how well our sports teams perform. That is a Boston/New York thing. Grab your snowboard or go hike an alpine trail. Breath the clean air. Do that and you will get a more realistic perspective on the team and its players. Stop acting like your life begins and ends with how well the Seahawks play on Sunday.

Exactly. That was pretty much every other passing play until about 4 games ago.
He's releasing the ball a lot quicker now and the results have been dramatic. I'm not sure why it took Bevell 8 weeks to figure this out.

So you agree. Good. That's all you needed to say. The rest was unnecessary.

Sure, if you just ignore that this is what I responded to.

And then we get to week 19. This where we will find out how good of a QB Russell Wilson is.

"How good of a QB Russell Wilson is" is defined by what he's done or will do over the years. Not just one year, and certainly not just one game.

Well Minnesota is no slouch. They are the 8th ranked passing defense even after Wilson lit them up. To do a direct comparison with someone considered "elite" look at Rodgers vs Minny 2 weeks before Wilson played them. Rodgers passed for 212 yds, 2 TD's and a completion percent of only 47%. And that game was in Lambeau. Wilson played Minny on the road, his stat line was 274 yards passing, 3 TDs and a 78% completion percent.

And now writers are putting Russell Wilson in the conversation for MVP. Interesting. I suppose it's possible if he continues this historic pace he's on and the guys ahead of him (Newton, Palmer, Brady) have a couple bad games. According to the article he only needs to throw one TD against Cleveland (with no INTs) and he'll have the all time NFL record for Most TDs without an INT in a 5 game span (currently held by Aaron Rodgers with 16).

So, it's a long shot but his season must be pretty impressive if he's made his way into MVP talks.

Don't kill the messenger, here is the link:
MVP Projection: Can Russell Wilson win the NFL's biggest award?
After week 16, when he has racked up another 550 passing yards, 7 or 8 more touchdowns, and a couple more QBRs north of 120, he will definitely be in the MVP discussion because that is the way the sports media rolls.

But, he has lost to 3 of the top 4 seeds in the NFC this year, and two of those losses were at home. That should disqualify him in my opinion, regardless of the degree of blame that applies to him.

Since this is the NFL general message board and not the snowboarding or hiking the alpine trail board it seems perfectly reasonable that people come here to specifically talk about QB's, NFL teams, stats, player comparisons, etc. If you don't like to read people debating football topics and giving opinions on football players you've picked an odd place to hang out.

Touche. The Minnesota game was a pleasant surprise. They do not match up well with the Seahawks and I expected a win, but nothing like that.

You really are incapable of relaxing, aren't you? Been visiting the Tacoma south hill a little too often lately?

You do realize this is a football message board, right?

Do you got to snowboard message boards and tell them to start playing more chess and stop worrying about snow conditions?

Yeah, like magic, eh? It's as if you think Bevell can just decide to have better pass protection.

Record plays into it obviously, but it's not the only thing. The team record of the Panthers is what is carrying Cam to the MVP title so far this year. If they lost a couple games I think he'd slip behind Brady and Palmer. But I also remember Cortez Kennedy winning DPOY on a 7-9 Seahawks team so voters don't always just look at record.

Well, you sure do have that NW condescension part down!

I'm relaxed, and I'm not picking a fight with you. Just pointing out that you shouldn't be surprised about football talk on a football board, or in this case Russell Wilson debate in a thread about Russell Wilson.

The game was not in Lambeau. The last game of the year is in Lambeau.

Better pass protection? When did that happen? Russell is releasing the ball quicker. The DL does not have titme to get to him when he does that. He isn't looking for 2nd, 3rd or 4th options anymore. As far as we know, the pass protection has not improved at all. When he does still occasionally drop deep and hold the ball for more than three seconds, he is still running for his life.
