Passan said no because the way Ford has been playing. I am okay with it either way. The yes way is because he can't be worse than Moore or Wong or Pollock. Platoon the DH spot and give France some extra rest during the second half with Ford at first. Not the greatest options, but this is where M's management has left us.

Honestly I don’t care about production. They need a leader type dude in the clubhouse and especially cause the dude loves Seattle and gets how the fans want to win. Not saying at all saying sign him and make him the everyday DH but it would a token symbol to the fans and honestly just like how Beltre was amazing for Felix, maybe Nelson could be good for Julio.

If this team even looked like a stretch to reach the WS I'd be good with them making an aggressive trade and moving minor league talent to do so.

They aren't.

If they can find someone to throw cash at and make minor trades for please do so.

They can't fix what's wrong with this team and the organization with trade deadline moves. They have to decide to get aggressive in the off season and make sure they get off to a fast start and solid first half before those epic trades to fill in that one spot they might be short make sense.

Until then this team will always be same as it ever was....

No where else to put this but was listening to a podcast and was wondering thoughts on the two thing the guest brought up.

A. A former baseball guy (didn’t hear his title) said no team should do a one for one trade for Ohtani with their top prospect. To me that is bonkers.

B. A 3 year 300 million is a deal he may be willing to take so he can another one similar to get him at the 500 million mark in his career. Yeah it is a crap load of money but it is “short term” and IMO it is workable because you can structure salaries around Ohtani’s.

A. Yes and no to me. Not all top prospects are created equal. So if it is a lesser top prospect than yes, but if it is the elite top prospect I would say no. Not for a 3 month rental. I wouldn't do Miller or Woo unless an extension came with it.

B. I would pass. One injury and that would cripple a cheap ass team like Seattle for three years. I guess I look at it this way, he plays on a team similar to Mariners but has one of top players in baseball with him and still has not made any impact on the playoffs in 6 years. Baseball, as we know with Cano, is not a one man show. Or even a two man show with him at two positions. $50? Sure. $100M? Pass.
