This incident could have escalated quickly when the Texas Tech fans stormed the court. UGLY.

I don't condone what Smart did, but from his reaction when he got up, his head turned right to the guy, the fan must have said something very inappropriate.

This incident will draw a lot of scrutiny from the Big 12 powers that be along with Oklahoma State. They may not make the NCAA Tournament if he's suspended for any length of time.

Look at the replay...the fan said something to him that sparked this, we will never know what he said. The fan is a court side fan paying big bucks for those seat. Again, not condoning the reaction, but do you really think a player would do that to a fan without being provoked????

I know you don't condone it, so I'm not insinuating that you do; but frankly, it doesn't matter what he said. As an athlete, you are not only held to a higher standard, but also under a microscope. Can't let emotions get the best of him, which is exactly what happened. Composure, and professionalism. As much as it handcuffs them (probably unfairly), it's not only what they sign up for, but players shoving fans are just never going to be acceptable (in any capacity).

He could have said anything from calling him cheap for committing the foul and rubbing the loss in, to an outright offensive statement, like bigotry. And honestly, it doesn't matter. Can't be out of control like that.

This may be the first and last time I ever utter these words...

I wanna know what Doug Gottlieb has to say about it.

i do. people throw tantrums when things dont go there way. smart is one of those people. he has shown to have a temper when things don't go his way all season (not to this extent) all ive seen is the guy say "get out of my face" and smart push him. id love to know how smart could hear a fan 10 ft away when the building is going crazy.

So in your world....a old rich white guy sitting court side in a contested game call say anything to this 19 year old kid and it is ok? The fan should have been thrown out if there was any quest as to what went on....these are kids...the fans is the dick for spouting off and starting the whole thing.

Watch Smart pull the race card out. He will use it as an excuse even if it's not what the guy said.

There's no excuse for what he did no matter what the guy said.
