GATHER.COM: Larry Seely claims a rumor from Bleacher report has the Vancouver Canucks shipping Roberto Luongo to the New York Islanders in exchange for Calvin de Haan, Casey Cizkas, and two first-round draft picks. Seely also cited Bleacher Report claiming the Toronto Maple Leafs making a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers for backup Michael Leighton.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I hope reading the above didn’t make your morning coffee come out your nose, or spit your cereal out on your screen, especially the “Luongo to the Islanders” one. Seely didn’t provide links to either report, but why bother looking them up? They’re both ridiculous and have no basis in truth.

Funny how all these Stamkos rumors have him going to the Maple Leafs or Flyers, with the Lightning usually getting the crappy end of the deal. And why, in Buddha’s name, would the Penguins want to trade Malkin in a three player deal? What the hell were they possibly going to get from Toronto that would be an adequate replacement? Tim Connolly? Phil Kessel? Clarke MacArthur? Do those rumormongers think Ray Shero has gone insane? Come on, folks, if you’re going to dream up trade scenarios for Stamkos, at least make them based in reality! I’m very, very disappointed in your lack of imagination. In the meantime, the Lightning will continue to work on getting Stamkos re-signed.

Yeah the bogus stupid rumors are getting old. The Islanders are probably going to carry 3 goalies on their roster as it is. Nabokov, Montoya & Red Light Ricky. They also have 3 very promising prospects in Poulin, Nilsson & Koskinen.

I mean the least these idiots could do is make up something plausable. Like one of Scuderi, Ballard or Komisarek to the Islanders. It's ridiculous.
