meh think they were all in on this one from the start. kinda wanted more of a pick the best guy approach. only time will tell now. I'm not so sure if the job he did while kerr was out is fools gold so to speak. who wouldn't have done what he did with kerr out. I'm not so sure they even interviewed anyone else.

He's young, the time with the warriors was an extremely small sample size, but we have a young team, and if we're patient, Luke can possibly grow with this team. This is a good hire, and quite frankly, for better or worse, we went all in to try to hire Luke, and it worked out

Also, he's not another retread. That was my biggest fear when they fired Byron...another retread.

IMO great hire. Why not try this? He is a Laker, he now has a bit of a coaching experience with his time in GS.

Also, imagine the rivalry going forward between LA and GS.

I hate retreads. I give the Nets and Lakers tons of credit for not going the retread route

Exactly. It feels fresh and it feels as if we hopefully have a POTENTIAL coach of the now, and future. Also, he's gonna be bringing in the system that fits today's NBA as well

Yeah, obviously we don't know how Luke will actually perform and the sample size is very small. But he's young, should have no problem connecting with his players and has been groomed by both Phil Jackson and Kerr.

Especially if Luke brings some version of the Warriors system. Could make for some fun games.

I wanted him after about week 3 this year. Makes all the sense in the world as its GS we are trying to model after.

Love Luke, former UofA star, learned from the great Lute Olson, learned from Phil Jackson, learned from Steve Kerr…. I think he's ready to coach his own team. Thing is, it's easy to look great when coaching Golden State's roster, we'll see what he's made of with the meteoric drop in talent from GS to LA.

honestly I think he'll relate to the younger players better, but as a HC he'll have to prove his mettle. I felt the same way about Spo for example for Miami. questioned his ability to coach at first but imo he proved he could get the job done. hoping Luke does the same here. we'll see I guess...

I like the pick up. Lakers actually got a potential quality coach this time around. Walton's good because he comes from a potentially elite coaching tree in Kerr and has played under Phil Jackson (Kerr played under Jackson and Pop). Also, as we've seen the first third of the season, Walton garnered the respect from a deep title team and knew how to manage the egos. Being a former player and assistant coach on title teams should help some. Overall, great hire. Personally I wanted Walton in Miami, but that wasn't going to happen.

Is he still a part of the GS playoff ride this year?

Byron would have been better.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Best hire they could have made with Thibs off the board. Lots of potential here.
