You said that in another thread but thanks?

There are many threads for this trade

I don’t doubt the Lakers will not miss him
I don’t think I have ever seen him on the court once

But he was a trade asset and now not available for any potential trades before Thursday

Brandon Ingram absolutely is.

But that's not the point, they surrendered a sufficient quantity of assets that they could've acquired several players sufficiently good to be the 2nd-best on a title team.

For just one example, they've could've acquired Jimmy Butler -- who was traded the very same day -- for almost nothing in comparison. The same Jimmy Butler who took his Miami team to the Finals, and gave the Lakers all they wanted just about by hisself.

No he isn’t.

Pelicans have been trying to trade him for a year and can’t find takers because nobody wants to pay him like a star.

His stats appear greater than his contributions to winning basketball.

Jimmy Butler was cheap because he was viewed as a locker room cancer.

And that is playing out today.

Heat got his best for a few years, but it was a risk and they knew it. He about to be traded for nothing again.

You assuming the Lakers could have been a dynasty based off of a long list of players who have accomplished little beyond compiling stats on mediocre to bad teams.

He's been posting 20/6/6 on reasonable efficiency for several seasons now, which is more than sufficient to be the 2nd-best player on a deep championship team. On the rare occasion when New Orleans hasn't been decimated by injury, they've been good -- especially considering it's New Orleans. They even won 49 games last year.

Ingram's numbers are about a spot-on match with Jaylen Brown's -- in fact, Ingram's are arguably better. Same with Jamal Murray.

As was Davis -- except he wasn't cheap, because the Lakers overpaid.

And that is playing out today.
And Davis just got traded, too.

And the Lakers could have had those best years for a pittance compared to what they blew renting Davis for one season.

And then the Lakers would not have needed to blow even more assets on the disastrous Westbrook trade.

Why won’t anyone trade for Ingram then?

Post his numbers all you want.

Pelicans were play in team last year and he was not their best player. If Ingram were nearly as good as Jaylen Brown, they would have suitors out the door. Brown is a high level 2 way player.

Anthony Davis was not a locker room cancer. You are making stuff up.

He asked NO to trade him before he left for free agency. They complied.

Lots of players do that. Doesn’t make them cancers. Everyone in the league wanted AD at that time.

Davis never did anything close to what Butler is doing now or what he did in Minnesota.

Nice job LA. On paper this is a huge win if Luca can get into shape and quit the partying habits

What is Dallas thinking ?

What do they know we don’t ?

They want a big....AD can now play PF and not C. They can play Gafford and Lively at C. And have some serious size.

They actually are a pretty scary team right now.

Perhaps New Orleans' likes him, and wants quite a bit in return?

Anthony Davis was not a locker room cancer. You are making stuff up.

He was considered precisely that, before the Lakers acquired him.

He tanked sufficiently during his last season in New Orleans that they won 15 fewer games than the previous season, despite their roster being almost entirely young players who should have still been improving -- and were only slightly worse after he left.

He asked NO to trade him before he left for free agency. They complied.

Lots of players do that. Doesn’t make them cancers. Everyone in the league wanted AD at that time.

Davis never did anything close to what Butler is doing now or what he did in Minnesota.

The NBA fined Davis $50k for his actions in forcing his way out of New Orleans. Among other desultory details:

Based on what, precisely?

They've been 1 game under .500 without Doncic this season. Most of the players from their playoff run last year, are gone -- of their top 10 in playoff minutes, Doncic, Jones, Green, Hardaway, and Kleber are all gone. Their two best players are 32 and 31 years old, and neither are routinely healthy, nor capable of being the guy on a championship team. They have a serious dearth of players to run their offense -- Irving leads the team in assists by far at 4.8, which for perspective, would place him fourth on the Lakers behind James, Doncic, Reaves, and the departed Russell.

Irving can run their offense now that Luka is gone.....Luka was averaging 8apg. Irving's apg will go up drastically.....the pick and roll between Irving and AD? That will be sick.

They have more size now and were 11th before the trade. They are even better now. And a lineup of Irving, Klay, PJ, AD and Gafford/Lively? That is a really good starting lineup.

Nope.

Nobody considered Davis a cancer. Nobody.

He told the Pelicans he was going to leave in free agency and gave them an opportunity to be traded.

The Pelicans decided to bench him so as not to risk their huge trade asset being injured and dropping his value.

There is no great way to end a relationship like that. But Davis did absolutely nothing to earn what you are trying to throw at him.

Never heard anybody call Davis a cancer until you a few minutes ago.

You aren’t going to twist this narrative though.

And if NO really like Ingram that much?

They would resign him instead of trying to trade him.

He is a good player. But not good enough to justify the contract he is going to get.

Smart GMs know this and that is the only reason Ingram is still a Pelican today.

He is not an idiot.

Too much detail in his head for that.

Just putting his own spin on facts to create the narrative he wants.

Even if it isn’t true.

Anthony Davis is a no-brainer hof player. They got Kyrie as well who's a beast out there. I mean the only thing with AD is how many games is he going to be available for you.
...and both are in their 30s and cresting to that downward slide. The Mavericks' window just shrunk considerably.

AD has been quite healthy this year and last, maybe those bigger injuries are in his past. If he's going to be playing PF, maybe he'll lean up a bit and not hit the floor as often.

If the Mavs thought Luka was going to leave?

Their window was this year and maybe next.

Perhaps they expanded their window by a year?

We will never know for sure.

It's a bit more than that, as he essentially forced his way to the Lakers by holding that extension over other interested teams' heads. Cancer is too strong, but I'm sure Pels fans aren't fond of the opportunity he provided them.
