Have you watched him play? I mean have you watched anyone play???? I don't know how many times I've seen that guy get the ball at the FT line and then hit the cutter, or go ahead and fake the pass and hit the easy 10 footer with that 'thanks sucker' look on his face.

He gets the ball in the high post occasionally.

He also initiates the offense. And plays with the ball in his hands at the top.

Are you still insisting he isn’t a point guard?

Checked his player page yet?

What is this even about?

Luka is a point guard in the positionless NBA.

I don't know wtf I'm arguing against at this point. You win, I'm tired you've worn me down.

I guess the only question is if you thought the Mavs with the core they had could have won the title in the next 3-5 years?

I believe the conditioning thing, but last year Luka was on fire so it's a year to year thing. Not every superstar is MJ or LeBron conditioning wise

Either Bron is announcing his retirement after the season or he is also getting dealt before Thursday.

They both need the ball in their hands to do their best work. I have said as much a half dozen times already.

I'd argue that James does not necessarily "need" possession to do his best work -- but he certainly wants it, which may be close enough. James has played very successfully now for, what 50 years, with a whole raft of guards, including Irving, Wade, and even Reaves ( who is 18th in the league in assists per game ).

Some of the current Lakers' worst possessions occur when James pounds the ball into smithereens and then hoists a long two with a couple seconds on the clock. The only thing worse is Davis trying to create his own shot from 18 feet, which rarely ends well.

This trade makes me think another big one is coming.

Just does not make a ton of sense from either side when looking at roster configuration and fit.

Dallas got older and gave up the best player. And AD just fits LeBron and Reaves a lot better than Luka does.
Another deal has to be coming.....this roster just feels so incomplete right now.

AD fit the roster, especially Bron and Reaves to a T.

I'm still trying to process what the fuck just happened.

Rob is cold blooded. I wonder if he knew he might be on the hot seat and was trying to save his job.

Thanks.

I don’t know either.

Pretty easy Google search lists Luka as a point guard. Listed that way on all star ballots, daily fantasy sites, etc.

Probably a good move for the Lakers long term.

I say probably because always a chance Luka has played his best basketball already and/or he leaves in 2026.

Have to make other deals now.

I think one of the upsides of Luka is he doesn't (ironically) rely on his athleticism.

So even with a major injury he's at worst the 2nd player on a title team.

I think the Lakers are in really good shape for the future

The Lakers still have tradeable pieces in Hachiumura, Reaves, Vincent, Vandy (the last 2 are smaller salaries and work for cap purposes), JHS (expiring contract) plus the '31 1st rounders.

I kind of get it but I loved AD on the Lakers.

He just had a 40 and 20 game recently and those players don't grow on trees.

Maybe Bron goes back to the Cavs with Bronny for Allen, LeVert, Okoro. Maybe have them add a 1st.

Or to the Warriors for Kuminga, Wiggins, Schroder and some smaller contracts. Also add a 1st.
