Jokic has a ring, and 3 MVPs.

Are you brand-new to basketball?
They have very similar body types was the point, moron.

And Jokic has a better coach and has had better talent for MOST of Doncic's time in Dallas.

That is true, but I don't think the Mavs believe the trade makes them a contender. Their odds to win the title went down immediately.

I think either Luka wanted out and/or they assessed the situation and said ... last year is the best it will get, we're too hamstung to get him help, so let's blow it up and see what we got when the smoke clears in a few years
AD isn't the scub people are making him out to be (by saying this is easily one sided in the Lakers favor).....he will help them a lot.....in differenct ways than Luka did obviously.

The Mavs odds went from 25-1 to 40-1 before bouncing back to 33-1.

The Lakers odds went from 40-1 to 16-1, behind only OKC and Denver in the WC.

Per the ESPN article Shams wrote about the trade when it broke.

I don't think anybody is saying that, they're just talking about the Mavs' motivation.

For instance, if you trade Kyrie for AD, now you're in SERIOUS business.

The Lakers wouldn't do that. They clearly looking at the post-Bron era.

And like it has been mentioned.....Nico Harrison and the Mavs were worried about Luka's conditioning.

That's not really good enough. Coming off a career year and a Finals appearance

There's a reason the trade has been called the most shocking trade in modern NBA history.

And no kidding they wouldn't do the Kyrie trade, I'm talking hypothetically. If the Lakers did that, people would be asking if they were on crack instead of the Mavs. But that's evaluating trades in real time

I think the trade in 1975 that brought Kareem to the Lakers was bigger. (Maybe not have been in season trade)

It arguably was, as discussed in one of these two threads earlier, but it was a June trade.

The Lakers traded four starters for Abdul-Jabbar, including two of the eight Bucks not named Kareem who have their numbers retired in Milwaukee. Two of those four Lakers were top-3 picks.

They have very similar body types was the point, moron.

And very dissimilar NBA careers. Sit and have a think for a few hours and see if you can puzzle out why that matters.

People gave Charles Barkley hell about his weight for years. Why? He wasn't a mutli-time MVP and he never won a ring. People did the same to Shaquille O'Neal -- then he won 3 rings, and shut them up.

Can you figure out the parallels here?

And Jokic has a better coach and has had better talent for MOST of Doncic's time in Dallas.

If you knew shit from Shinola, you'd know that Doncic ran off the better coach that he used to have.

You also might have heard the phrase "Winning cures all ills" -- and if you had, you would not have asked your previous idiotic question.

Who did the Lakers give up? And I doubt it was in season. This is bigger.

It was a June trade.

Junior Bridgeman -- just drafted #8 overall, had his number retired by Milwaukee.
Brian Winters -- drafted #12 overall the previous year, two-time All-star for the Bucks, also had his number retired by Milwaukee.
Elmore Smith -- #3 overall pick in '71, 13th in MVP voting in his second year, led the league in blocks in his 3rd year, career double-double average
Dave Meyers -- just drafted #2 overall, played four seasons for Milwaukee then retired and joined a religious cult

At the time, it was a massive haul, Later tempered a little by the fact that Abdul-Jabbar played almost as many more seasons as the last three combined ( 14 vs 17 ). Milwaukee actually flipped Smith to Cleveland 18 months later, for a journeyman and 2 firsts.

Thanks. So not in season, and not superstar for superstar. So this was indeed the biggest in season trade ever, and it's not close.

The point was specifically that Davis was considered a cancer at the time the Lakers traded for him. Not for his whole career, at that specific time.

And he unquestionably was, which is why New Orleans sent him away from the team.

Yes.

That is your point.

And literally nobody called him that at the time of the trade, or ever for that matter.

Until you just today.

Trying to compare AD to Jimmy Butler as malcontents?

Cmon man.

That is awful.

AD could sue you for liable saying something that outlandish.

I always play a simple game when it comes to comparisons. If the Lakers called the Heat about trading them AD, they would offer back Butler and more before the Lakers finished the sentence. If the Heat called the Lakers and offered Butler for Davis, the Lakers would hang up and block their number

Kareem was traded for four Milwaukee players. He was traded in June. So, it may have been off season by then.

I still see the trade for Kareem as much bigger than Luka trade. Kareem had 5 NBA titles with the Lakers. He was a man that changed the game of basketball. Luka can't shine Kareem's shoes.
