I am fine with this if true. Does director of Pro scouting mean he was not involved in the college scouting before the draft?

It might be structured different within the teams. However, yes they're are directly involved with college scouting and pro scouting. I know with some the scouts all work directly for you.

I won't say that's awesome because for us just because he's coming from the Pat's. They also have had some rough drafts with players not panning out.

He gets hired and he starts trading back, we'll know where he learned it from.

The draft nerds like myself will be happy with that.

No team has an awesome draft every year, but there is a reason New England keeps losing top players and the next man up steps in with little to no drop off. I am going to remain optimistic about our future drafts until he proves other wise.

First hire in a while where I felt that the benefit of the doubt is warranted, I am excited about it.

Agree with you Mebert. I will like it even more if he keeps Caldwell. There are some here that swear that certain teams are the blue print to success.

On the drafts, it will done who can hire as scouts. He scouted some, but he was guy who looked at all the data collected by others. Good scouts made him look him good also.

No way all the scouts had Ebron that high IMO. Hoping he isn't a Mayhew is were my hope lies.

@RobBase

It seems we have switched personas lately. I'm the negative Nancy on issues and you're all rainbro on shit.

I'm not liking it...LOL

I just don't think BQ is coming in to supply Caldwell's vision. Could be wrong.

I'm sure he isn't either.

I just accept the fact we wanted change and got it with Mayhew. Doesn't mean he does better? He should or Ernie should find a new job. Does it mean the new staff is better than the current one? I guess we accept that either way also.

Good question. The Patriots have a separate Director of College Scouting - Monte Ossenfort, and Director of Player Personnel - Nick Caserio.

So this Quinn guy basically brought in Lagarrette Blount 3 times. Anything else?

I wanted Caserio. Not sure Quinn is ready.

Right. It's the equivalent of hiring a position coach as head coach. Like when we hired Marinelli.

You know, I read Mebert's question and didn't realize he was titled "asst."

So it will be interesting to see which way he goes in FA and his first draft. What was he actually responsible for in NE? Did he even bring Blount in 3 times?
