Never mind making the playoffs, I don’t see how this team doesn’t finish last in the division.

Online sports gambling is going to be very, very bad for some hardcore fans.

I like our hopes of being decent by 2023 though. Three drafts removed from BQ should be enough. One isn’t. This defense is still gonna have a hard time. Even if I’m pumped for Barnes.

On paper, I don't see how this team collects 3 wins yet alone more than that 5.5 over/under.

It's a tough schedule for them considering a completely new WR cast and all the unknowns on the defensive side.

Our entire DB corps should be considered questionable.
Amani Oruwariye had the most games started last year over any of those defensive players that are returning.

Maybe 3 wins :noidea: is probable

On Madden 22 I went 11-6, won the division, lost to the Bucs in the first round of the playoffs then drafted a stud MLB and star QB from Ole Miss w my two first round picks.

It's quite possible you could end up being correct with this statement.
I hope not but @broncosmitty tried to warn me regarding Okudah and at this time, you both stand being correct.

agree here, but it's damn near inconceivable to truly know whether any of these players, no matter their position, will become HOF players.

The only CB's taken in the 1st round over the last dozen years that "might currently qualify as HOF" are most likely Patrick Peterson and maybe Joe Haden and Stephon Gilmore. The first two were 5th and 7th overall, i think, but I see your rationale.

I don't think either of us are in disagreement. I just think projecting CBs is much more difficult than some other positions, making it higher risk in the first round, especially the top of the first round. Hence, I wouldn't bother taking one there (and likewise, WR, RB, etc.)

The tricky part is, our division might completely blow giving us extra wins. I'd hate for us to go 7-10 or 8-9 (so weird typing that...) and be stuck in the middle of the first round for drafting.

That would blow, going 7-10 or 8-9

I look at the Vikings being slightly better than us and Maaaaybe the Lions squeak out a win, at home, versus them.
Philly and Atlanta, on paper, right now, look like the most logical choices of a win - and those could be suspect also.

You could've watched live on Detroit Fox 2 with streameast.live off of sportsurge.net
At least I would've seen it. Flippin' NFL Network didn't show the game this morning. I'll get to see two games this year on TV... Thanksgiving, I think it was against da Bears and the Cardinals in December. I hate when the Lions have losing seasons.

Lions are still perfect.

Perfect:
ADJECTIVE
  1. having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.... RETROGRADE

I really did think the Lions were just writing this season off in order to set themselves up for the future. I must have missed it, but I didn't realize this gathering of bumblefucks renegotiated Goff's contract in order to lessen his cap hit this year and add guaranteed money into the future. Wtf? Why?

That kind of decision making could go 0-34

I complained about it when they did it, but with every QB underperforming I am hoping we don't spend a 1st on a QB, so Goff sticking around for a year might not be that bad. They are not set up to be bad just this year, they are set up to be bad for 3-5 years. The only real change in that regargd is the Lions now admit it as well as the rest of the world.

The Lions wouldn't have had the money to sign their rookie draft class or even the 2021UFA without re-structuring Goff's contract - and Jamie Collins contract and reducing Nick Williams contract

They are not set up to be bad just this year, they are set up to be bad for 3-5 years.

Being bad for 3-5 years depends on who they draft in the next 2 years and how the draft picks from 2021-2023 progress.
If Holmes doesn't hit on draft picks over the next 2 years then your assumption could be correct.

The Lions have no business signing any remarkable UFA for new league year 2022, imo.

Cut bait with Flowers, Vaitai and Will Harris, Austin Bryant would be a decent start to clear some more money for 2022 and beyond - unless Flowers availability and play heightens to the point where it's warranted and he's a necessity for 2022

with every (2021 CFB) QB underperforming I am hoping we don't spend a 1st on a QB, so Goff sticking around for a year might not be that bad.
This right here

I'll be rooting for Bama's current QB, Bryce Young, to be the QB draft pick in 2023 should he continue progress as much as he has since last year's mop-up duty for Mac Jones. He's progressed so much more than anticipated by most experts. Obviously, all of that positive progression could decline between now and the 2023 draft.

It's not a Bama Homer pick either

Drafting a QB in 2022 would be wasting that draft slot/pick when all of those picks could be used elsewhere.

We're already minus our 2022 4th round pick - to the Browns for moving up to draft Barnes in 2021
AND
Our early 5th round 2022 in the trade for Trinity Benson

They already traded Stafford for nothing currently and let Golladay walk for free. Just cut some MF'ers that cost money and sign some street FA that's happy to work for the minimum. Don't mortgage whatever future you're trying to rebuild towards in order to make the 2021 slightly less bad.

If there's anybody worth the pick, you need a QB eventually. It just doesn't feel like there is anybody currently.
