ESPN just announced that the Deytroit Lions have fired GM Bob Quinn andf Head Coach Matt Patricia.

Patricia has no business coaching in the NFL. He belongs in high school

Kinda strange with the Lions and their situation over the years. It seems like they are always in a state of where the parts are greater than the sum. There's always been some solid talent on both sides of the ball, but for whatever number of reasons, they way more often than not produce losing records. Bad ownership, bad management, bad coaching....maybe a combination of things, not sure. But in particular during the Stafford era, they should have produced more winning records and postseason appearances.

I wouldn't be shocked if Patricia actually bounces back somewhere as a coordinator. Detroit had some really stupid losses the past two seasons and they'd make any coach look worse than what they are. That said, he has also clearly had his team give up on him two years in a row so he probably shouldn't be a head coach anywhere.

Michigan is failing he is seems to lack the ability to coach kids.
Was an excellent HC in NFL. Detroit being in Michigan. I could see it happening.

I keep seeing claims that replacing Caldwell with Patricia was rascist. I dont read it that way. I think Quinn believed he had built a contender, and wanted his friend who came into yhe league with him to finish it.

He was obviously wrong. It was compounded by Lions dumping talent when they called out Patricia.

Only thing worse than Patricias coaching was his personality.

The optics on the Caldwell firing will forever be bad, though. They had Matt Stafford's prime and blew it with high draft picks on TEs and RBs.
