Interesting point.

If the Dolphins don't trade with us. I am sure we can trade down for a conditional 5th from the Pats.
Brady is looking a little long in the tooth recently.

I’m beginning to wonder if Tua makes sense. Let him sit one year behind Stafford. I believe the Lions have an out in 2021 w Stafford @Big_Blue_72 is that right?

I believe so. It's somewhere around 10M dead cap and 20M cap savings for 2021 and no dead cap in 2022.

How do you feel about the Lions taking Tua at 3?

depends on what your thoughts are regarding re-structuring Stafford's 2020 roster bonus into a signing bonus and pretty much adding a year that's meaningless.

Lions create extra 2020 cap room with Stafford contract restructure

Per Yates, the Lions converted Stafford’s $6 million roster bonus in 2020 into a signing bonus. What this basically means is that the extra $6 million in cap hit from next year will be prorated over the rest of Stafford’s contract, including this year.

Yates is reporting that the move will save Detroit $4.8 million in cap room, but that figure could be a little misleading. His report seems to suggest that the Lions may have added an extra voidable year on his contract, meaning that $6 million cap hit will be spread out as $1.2 million per year over five seasons (2019 plus four years into the future—although his current contract is only for three more seasons).

Does this make it more or less likely they are now targeting a QB in the draft? More, ya?

Draft prospects for Lions fans to watch in college football selection committee, playoff games

Memphis WR Damonte Coxie -- Damonte Coxie has not declared for the draft, but could be a sleeper name to watch if the junior goes off in the Cotton Bowl. The 6-foot-3 receiver has 68 catches for 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Coxie nearly matched his totals from his sophomore season, so the consistency is there with this lesser known name in a loaded field.

His name is starting to make the rounds after lighting up ranked Cincinnati in the regular-season finale and then the conference championship game in back-to-back weeks. He hauled in a combined 15 catches for 310 yards and one touchdown in those two big games.

Two of my draft crushes right there. (obviously Chase Young, CB Jeff Okuda and Georgia LT Andrew Thomas)

Others that are current draft crushes of mine

TCU CB Jeff Gladney
Memphis WR Damonte Coxie (coke-see)
Bama DB Xavier McKinney
LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (he reminds me of Ray Rice the football version. not woman beater)

I would stay away from Tua. He may turn out to be a great pro but....

He has had some significant injuries

He has benefitted from having prolific offensive players around him. How good is he throwing to Juedy and handing off to Jacobs. Playing behind 3-5 NFL type lineman?

If i was Quinn I would look at the combine and pro days of Easion, Fromm, Herbert, and Love. If I think 1-2 of them have real skills I trade down, I expect a bidding war for Tua, and get one later.

The Lions need players not a player.

I hope Tua is a good NFL player but what he can get on the trade market and questions about him I would sell high.

Alabama's O-Line is over-rated. Tua was the mainstay that made that OL look better than what they really are. Sure Wills and Leatherwood will most likely be drafted in the 1st round but it was more Tua than the OL.

I’m rooting so hard for the Redskins tomorrow. They’ll be motivated to eliminate Dallas from playoff contention.

Also rooting for @broncosmitty ’s Packers....

Over rated???

I guess national championships and guys like Jonah Williams, Irv Smith, Josh Jacobs going in the first round was luck. Not to mention the 2020 draft that will add.

Throwing the ball to guys like Juedy and Ridley didn't make him look better either.

I wish the Lions had over rated guys on their line. Maybe they could rush for a respectable amount per game.

Jonah Williams hasn't played in the NFL, yet.

How did Bama fair without Tua versus Auburn and that great OL of theirs this year.

I've watched every single Bama game for years because I live down here.

I just differ in an opinion from what I see weekly from this team.

Bama lost to 2 good teams. No shame you can't go undefeated every year. They are stacked is what I am saying. The last 4 years Tua has benefitted from a strong offense.

I look at OSU Quarterbacks. They have had the benefit of throwing to stud wideouts and having quality offensive line. But when they get to the NFL....crickets.

I have serious doubts on Haskins as well.

And that doesn't even take into account Tua's injuries. I hope the kid does well but am not sold he hasn't benefitted from the program. Alabama hasn't been a QB factory and that bothers me as well.

I would look at the combine and pro days as someone like Herbert may have better skills but didn't have the talent to make him look good like Tua.

It's all good we can agree to disagree. At the end of the day Lion fans just want to see them turn things around.

Here is my early short mock.

Rd 1 CB Okuda OH St
Rd 2 OT Becton Lou
Rd 3 Edge Okwara ND

I just cant see the Skins passing on Chase. If somehow they beat Dallas then I will have to change my 1st and 3rd round selections.
