Rumor is we will be getting Van Noy for a 3rd rounder to be used creatively by PP to rush the passer.

Nah.

BQ will trade Jarrad Davis and our 2020 3rd round pick to Hoodie for his 2021 5th round pick and Davis will become a consistent Pro Bowl and All-Pro and then HOF inducted down the road.

No way we'd get Simmons with our 1st round pick. He's too good. He's not Derwin James but relatively close.

BQ would probably draft Wisky LB Baun with that 1st round pick though.

I am calling it now. Stafford will sit out until the last regular season game and the Lions will do the the most Lions move ever and start him in a pointless game and we will win dropping up from a top 3 pick to a top 10 pick.

Then with the top 10 pick — we will prove once again we are the smartest team in the league and draft the top FB. Bob Quinn will say he doesn’t care if he runs a 6.5 40 yard dash, as he has study all of his tape and he is a high character player.

F, this team is so frustrating to root for.

2020 NFL Draft order: Detroit Lions have about 50% chance at top-5 pick

But how likely are they to hold onto their current top-five status? A couple of analytic sites do weekly simulations to see what the most likely landing spot for top five picks.

Let’s start with ESPN. According to their projections, which are based on their own Football Power Index (FPI) model, the Lions’ average draft position after 10,000 simulations is 5.8. They give Detroit a 50.9 percent chance of a top-five pick, and a 95.4 percent chance of a top-10 pick.

Interestingly enough, the Arizona Cardinals, who currently share the Lions’ 3-9-1 record, have an average draft position of 5.4, but only have a 34.3 percent chance at a top-five pick.

Football Outsiders has a similar model but based on their own DVOA projections. According to their site, the Lions have a 49.6 percent chance at a top-five pick. And in case you were drinking the Honolulu Blue Kool Aid: Tank Flavor, they also provided their chance at the No. 1 overall pick: 0.1 percent. The only way that happens is if the Lions lose out and the Bengals win out (plus more help). Cincinnati still has the Patriots, Dolphins and Browns on their schedule.

What are the Lions' 5 biggest needs heading into the offseason?

Anyways, the Lions are dead and buried and, with any luck, Quinn’s tenure as general manager will be laid to rest :rip: at an adjacent plot. But, regardless of who leads the front office into the offseason, the team has plenty of work ahead of them. While I won’t enumerate the top five – because arguing about semantics is pointless –

I reckon that the Lions’ biggest needs heading into the offseason are edge but MP doesn't know how to use one so what's the purpose, cornerback because Slay will be traded for a 2020 5th round pick, off-ball linebacker because Jarrad Davis blows, guard because all the Lions fans are enamored with Wiggins and BQ is too stupid to re-sign Graham Glasgow (side-note- he doesn't want to be here anyways), wide receiver because big_blue is whining about not having an explosive-take the top off type, and a fucking OT that can, at a minimum, replace that p.o.s. Wagner in some order.

BB_72: this is a month old so....

As Detroit Lions prep for NFL draft, here are 13 to watch during college bowl season

NO ! to Mims and Peoples-Jones. Mims has hands like last years Metcalf and PJ is nothing more than another possession receiver.

but...… @Mebert

ns this year.

Wisconsin edge rusher Zack Baun: Ohio State's Chase Young and Iowa's A.J. Epenesa rightfully command much of the attention as the Big Ten's top pass rushers, but Baun made a name for himself within the conference by putting together a breakout, 12 1/2-sack campaign. Though the 6-3, 235-pound linebacker is neither as stout nor as pliable as either Young or Epenesa, he sheds blockers with ease. In the Rose Bowl, Baun faces his most difficult test of the season by taking an imposing Oregon line led by sophomore left tackle Penei Sewell, an All-American who sizes up as a potential first-round pick next year.

also like the kid from North Carolina if he declares. He doesn't fit the physical requirements that BQ/MP look for.

North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt: The rare quarterback-turned-linebacker, Surratt is a surprising fit on the defensive side of the ball. In his first season at the position, the 6-3, 230-pounder led the Tar Heels in tackles (110) and sacks (six). Surratt — whose younger brother, Wake Forest sophomore wide receiver Sage Surratt, is also a promising player — checks off plenty of boxes for an off-ball linebacker, as he moves easily to the sideline, in coverage and chasing down plays in the backfield. Regardless of whether the junior decides to declare and make the Military Bowl against Temple his last game with North Carolina, he's an ascendant talent who should only develop further with more experience.

If he is already getting so much good buzz he may move into the late first. That would make me sad

you know the media hype. It doesn't always work out that way and he's undersized for those teams that'd use him as a jack-type LB but you never know. It's just way too early but I'll post articles like this when I see them.

Lions mailbag, Part 1: Patricia moves team backward; 2020 defensive outlook

► Q: With the "build up the middle" philosophy Quinn and Patricia like to spout, wouldn't it be more likely they take the defensive tackle Derrick Brown rather than Chase Young? — @Tim1213

► A: Let me make this clear right off the top, Auburn's Derrick Brown would be an excellent addition for Detroit, and if they're picking anywhere from No. 3 to No. 10, you can easily make the case he's the right choice. This team needs interior help and Brown is a three-down monster, strong as the day is long with some serious pass-rushing prowess from those inside alignments.

But regardless of the desire to build from the inside out, you don't pass up an edge-rushing talent like Young. If the choice is between the two, it's not a difficult decision.

BB_72: Young, Thomas, Okudah and then Brown would be my order. He's not Suh (who returns to the Den this weekend while stomping out any possibilities of a Lions "W") or even McCoy but then again he'd be a cheaper/younger replacement for Snacks. Brown isn't truly a pass rush specialist but his power, hand placement are very good. He's on in big games for the most part but can disappear for stretches at times.

Is it just me or is it Chase Young or bust?
I just don't trust Quinn to make a pick outside of the no brainer.
Maybe that CB from Ohio State might be the only other no brainer if we don't land Young?

I know there is that one OT that is also ranked really high but it's pretty irresponsible at this point to not address a 30th ranked defense at this point.

This stupid fucking shit right here.

The Lions are passing on better talent to get some clunkhead that passes their 'qualifiers'.

We need a head coach because the position has been vacant now for two years. You adjust your scheme to fit your talent. That's what coaching is. Otherwise, you're just some moke with a scheme. A fraud. A phony. A wannabe GM that wants to pick players that you think somehow magically fits your scheme.

Fuck this shit. Fuck Quinn and fuck Patricia.

So if it’s true about Chase Young do we turn our attention to Okuda? I’ve seen Auburn DT Derrick Brown mocked to us too. I think I’d rather have the CB from tOSU.
