Ruggs has phenomenal hands, and i really like Najee excellent balance and always turning his legs forward.

Two of my draft crushes right there. (obviously Chase Young, CB Jeff Okuda and Georgia LT Andrew Thomas)

Others that are current draft crushes of mine

TCU CB Jeff Gladney
Memphis WR Damonte Coxie (coke-see)
Bama DB Xavier McKinney
LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (he reminds me of Ray Rice the football version. not woman beater)

I'd take Bama WR Henry Ruggs over Jeudy.

Ruggs has Tyrek Hill like explosiveness.

What Lions games have you been watching over the last 5 weeks ?

Coleman and Melvin both have struggled greatly due to that high percentage of non-existent pass rush.

I have not watched much of the last 3 games.

The DC calls the plays. He can blitz if he wants to. DC will most likely be removed next year.

Oh well then... That should solve things. Will Pattycakes take over play calling or hire another fall guy?

Yeah I actually like those two, Coleman is better than Melvin but I don't care if you are Derell Revis in his prime. You can't stick to NFL receivers for over 5-6 seconds because lack of pass rush.

The entire secondary looks/plays worse than it should all because of the shit show defense Patricia employs.

Now, yesterday's game and last week he began to use more 4, 5, 6, man fronts and not inclusive, at times, of the Jack position. This scheme should've been used 10 games ago. I get the injury situation the defense has had to deal with and having youngsters like Atkins and Strong to rely upon but a HC or OC or DC has to adapt to variances on the go.

Which probably means if BQ has the opportunity to draft DE Chase Young or some other pass rush specialist he won't because Patricia doesn't believe in rushing the passer. Seal the edge. Employ containment. Sit back and watch your front line get exploited.

not 2020 draft news but I'd be all in in an attempt to sign Chiefs DT/DE, Chris Jones, if he doesn't stay with the Chiefs.

Fat chance that happens as much as Patricia losing 10 lbs. after the season ends.

Maybe, possibly, at times partially true.

How much influence does Paul Pasqualoni have on the Lions defense?

You get your Lions news from usatoday which the LionsWire is part of. Shame on you for Not reading every single article published. :pound:

The question here refers to Lions defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni and his influence on the team and scheme. Pasqualoni sometimes gets forgotten because of the defensive nature and orientation of head coach Matt Patricia.

It’s a common question, and a difficult one to answer with the practice sessions being largely closed to the media. After consulting with a couple of fellow reporters who cover the Lions and from my own observations and impressions, here’s my take:

Pasqualoni is more of a sounding board and consigliere for Patricia than an actual decision-maker for the Lions. It’s Matt Patricia’s defense we’re seeing and it’s the head coach who makes the in-game decisions on calls.

That’s not to say Pasqualoni has no influence or purpose, even on game days. Patricia clearly trusts him and respects his defensive coordinator, and they do see football things largely the same way. If Pasqualoni sees something, he will get into Patricia’s ear and impact change. They are frequently conversing during games, and Pasqualoni is often talking as much as Patricia is during the defensive huddles along the sidelines.

But the larger function for Pasqualoni is to convey Patricia’s vision and scheme to the players during the week. Patricia has made no secret he’d love to be more hands-on with the defense in practices, but being the head coach doesn’t afford him that kind of time. Pasqualoni gets that assignment. His background as a college coach and mentality are that of a teacher, and that influence can be seen on Jahlani Tavai, Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Tracy Walker in their development and growth as young players.

Now we're completely up to date where the blame falls upon.

Patricia. Solely.

seems as though we have no need for pass rushers and BQ doesn't draft them until the 4th round here we go

Potential Lions draft prospects to watch in the SEC Championship game

Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
For my money, Thomas is the best offensive line prospect in this draft class. He’s an instant starter at either OT spot and reminds me some of Seahawks legend Walter Jones in that he makes it look pretty effortless in his dominance. Thomas might not last to Detroit’s first-round pick even if the Lions wind up in the 4-6 overall range–he’s that good.

calling @Thruthefog (even though you were already aware of this prospect)

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU
Most renowned for how he destroyed Alabama, the 5-8 Edwards-Helaire is a late bloomer of a back. He nearly doubled his prior two seasons of productivity in 2019 with an expanded role. He’s at his best getting the ball at top speed and pressing the hole immediately. Also a gifted receiver, he’s not easy to bring down with just one guy. Projects as a middle-round prospect right now.

BB_72: more than likely to be 5th rd or beyond but I could see the possibility of landing somewhere in 4th.

The Draft Network

Like the potential of this kid. He has the tools to become a no.1 but if that happens it'll take until year 2 if not year 3. I definitely envision him as an immediate 1st year no.2 so long as there are no injuries between now and beginning of next regular season. He cannot afford to miss time in training camp nor pre-season if he's going to compete for a starting job in his 1st year (pretty much common for most or all incoming CFB CB's).

I have read other articles and tidbits saying PP was making the in game Play calls. My guess is MP has done it the last 2 weeks though judging by how different it looks now. Everyone closer to the LOS like the Pats do.

We won't need a dynamic pass rusher like Chase Young.
Rumor is we will be getting Van Noy for a 3rd rounder to be used creatively by PP to rush the passer.
