In fact, Kyrie just said recently that he wouldn't mind reuniting with Lebron.
Point-of-order: We don't actually have a direct quote of Kyrie saying that.

All we have is silly season media speculation.

you just cant go over the cap to sign free agents. you already have to have them on your team and own their Bird rights.
You won't need to go over the cap to sign anyone the next 2 years if you're LA and then they can use bird rights on Ingram and the next year Kuzma or Ball . You won't be able to keep all of them but you can sign 2 max FAs and keep St least 2 of them ( maybe 3 depending on who else is on the roster ) and by the time you need to worry about Kuzma, Hart or Ball LBJs contract will be up anyway so you can decide then . No need to throw it all away now when you've got 3 years to figure it out

Anyone that trades and elite player for a 1 year rental deserves what they get . I PRAY the Celtics are dumb enough to trade Tatum and picks for 1 year of AD. Please God let that happen .
I think AD will look at other teams just like Paul George did, but if you are the Pelicans, there is no rush but they will not get the offers like the ones The Lakers offered

And fans eat it up.

Bleacher report - "Kyrie, would you consider playing in LA?"
Kyrie - "I wont rule out anything"
BR - Kyrie says he'll play with Lebron

all right bud,

the cap for the 2019-2020 season is set to be 109M

Report: NBA sets salary caps for 2019-20, 2020-21

so, 109M

the Lakers on the books for next year are:

well first we have to remember Luol Deng- who was stretched- and counts a little over 5M against the Lakers cap for the next 3 years.

So, here we go:

Deng: 5M
LeBron: 37M
Ball: 9M
Ingram: 7M
Kuzma: 2M
Wagner: 2M
Hart 2M

that brings us to a grand total of 64M and that is only for 6 players. That is not counting cap holds for roster spots, cap holds for the Lakers draft pick etc.

109-64 = 45M

how do you account for cap holds for your open roster spots, the rest of the roster, your first round pick, and use 45M to sign TWO max free agents- a max free agent being at least 30M dollars to so sign?

please enlighten me.

what i would do if i was the Lakers- would be to offer a Ingram and Ball and a first rounder or two for Beal. Beal only makes 27M

so, after you get rid of Ball's 9M and Ingrams 7, you only add 11M to the cap.

That would bring the Lakers to 34M in cap space--- sign some vet mins. etc...etc...say you somehow get it so that you have 30M to go out and sign vucevic.

LeBron/Beal/Vucevic core isnt exactly a ground-breaking Big 3- but it would be a very fun team to watch and would have some potential

something like:

Pg: ? MLE
SG: Beal
SF: LeBron
PF: Kuzma
C: Vucevic

now that is something that would at least be a fun team to watch- they wont be world beaters or favorites- but they would give you a fighting chance, and its at least SOMEWHAT realistic if you could get the Wiz to bite on taking Ingram and Ball and a couple firsts for Beal.

Well there's no point next year really . If you think you can sign AD after 2020 then you sit tight . The only teams who may trade for him are teams looking to win now on a rental but no one is foolish enough to give up the farm for a rental . People keep bringing up PG but he's an anomaly . Most guys traded in their last year before FA leave

so you tell LeBron- hey LeBron- first year in LA we were punting nd waiting for free agency....turns out, your 2nd year in LA, we are going to do the same thing- sign guys to 1 year deals, tons of drama, trade rumors etc.....

but dont worry, after wasting 2 years in LA, when you are in your age 36 season, we are going to sign Anthony Davis in free agency.

good luck breaking the news to LeBron.

And they would have options with around $30M. They wouldn't be getting a star but another all-star caliber player. Beal is a perfect fit for Lebron and if they add a #3 that is a solid team where you get to keep Kuzma in a deal.

Easy . 1 guy each year . Cap goes up to a minimum of 118-120 2020. So you'll basically be right at the cap with vet min. You bird Ingram, Deng is off the books and decide which other guy ( Kuzma , Ball, Hart ) you want to keep and ship the others. It's not any different than what GS will be able to do this year with KD and Klay if they decide to pay the tax .

Still not enough to sign two max guys, you need $65-70M. Isn't possible even at $118 cap

LeBron didn't come to LA to win a title his first 2 years man . He's in LA for a lot of reasons . Chasing a title early ain't one of them

uhh what?

that does not work financially- for instance- for the non-bird rights max, Klay Thompson will get 33M his first year, and that will rise to 35M in his second year

so lets rework the numbers the FOLLOWING year with a 118M dollar cap

Deng: 5M
Klay Thompson: 35M
LeBron: 39M
Ingram: will be an RFA due a large raise- but lets just say you say- FUCK ingram- and some team signs him to an offer sheet and he just goes. Or we can even assume that he signs a VERY team friendly 12M a year salary (which is not realistic in the slightest, but lets indulge your fantasy)
Ball: 11M
Kuzma: 3.5
Hart: 3.5
Wagner: 2

With Ingram at 12M: 111M

Without Ingram at all: 99M

and again, the 111M and 99M figures are for either ONLY 6 or 7 players and do not count cap holds for roster slots, cap holds for draft picks etc.

So as you can see, if you sign Ingram for 12M- you have 7M in cap space

If you just let Ingram walk- you have 19M in cap space- not NEARLY enough for a max contract.

the math simply does not work slugger.

Why do you think they are pushing to get AD now? They want to win now, maybe not this year but definitely next year. They aren't waiting till Lebron's 3rd or 4th year in L.A. lolzzz
