The talk that goes on in the locker-room is likely very nsf-public knowledge. Knowing that a guy violated that privacy means that you essentially have to walk on eggshells with what you say and do around him.

For example lets say you mention to your friend that you're going to a strip club that night, but just opt not to tell your gf/wife. Your friend then goes and tells your wife where you're going and a fight ensues. Even if your relationship is repairable at that point, would you ever mention anything in similar context to your friend again? Even if he promised not to do it again?

Russell: Where you guys going tonight?
Everyone: No where.
Russell: You guys doing anything fun tonight.
Everyone: Not a damn thing.

That's how almost every conversation will take place with him for the forseeable future.

There are much smarter ways to NARC. You have to be the dumbest idiot in the world to put yourself in the middle of a shitty relationship AND ruin your locker room cred.

This might actually be dumber than the Yankee's player who stole Jeter's glove. While noble to save someone from a failure of a marriage, the reality is that Hollywood marriages and NBA marriages are both generally a sham anyways. You're a franchise draft pick in arguably the biggest basketball market.

I've seen worse and it wasn't nice, but at 20 years old sometimes these kids don't think and from what I have heard about the video - it wasn't that bad. I do think Russell should be sanctioned by the Lakers though and make it clear that he is not a child any more and yada yada

The team is going to change any way - many of those players will leave - and in time they will resolve their differences. It was a really bad choice in judgment but it wasn't attempted murder
