I don't know if you consider what I said trash talk or trolling but if you do maybe you should not be so sensitive in the future. All I said was go D-Backs.

It's their board. Get off, Optimus Prime.

Since 1998 (when AZ became a team) the Dodgers have 3 division titles compared to 5 for the D-Backs.

So says the guy who's hiding behind alt usernames. :lame:

Just so you know, this isn't trolling, guys.

Welcome MVPuig from the official unofficial board GM of the Dodgers.....

Well here we are close to the deadline... all sorts of rumors swirling around Chavez Ravine.
Will Ethier be a Dodger on August 1st? Will Matt Garza or Cliff Lee be a Dodger on August 1st? Will Chase Utley and/or Michael Young be a Dodger on August 1st??

If I had to answer those questions I would say No,Yes and Yes. I think Ethier ends up in Philly as part of a deal for Lee and Utley/Young (probably Young since Utley is a Philly fixture)

I also heard the Yankees are talking to Colletti about Uribe!! We will take Joba the Hutt off their hands and they can have Uribe.

So with that, I would say you would have some flexibility in the infield. You could go with Young at 2B and Punto at 3B or you could go Ellis at 2B and Young at 3B.

Also heard rumors that the Rangers might shop Ian Kinsler. I can see us sending Ethier to Texas for him instead of for Young and then trade for Garza.
Bottom line is will get an infielder and a pitcher at the deadline and Ethier will be gone.

I also migrated from the ESPN board.

Ethier isn't going anywhere; especially when Kemp and Crawford can't stay healthy for any length of time and Puig is sacrificing his body on a nightly basis. Ethier has shown he's capable of playing anywhere in the OF and is definitely regaining his swagger at the plate (game-winning HR tonight). Ellis' contract is up at the end of this year; same time Utley will become a free-agent. Colletti has stayed the course with Uribe for so long that there's no way he trades him; especially when he's finally come-around.

Welcome, Heisenberg. :suds:

I'm here to give respect to the guys upstairs for the Dodgers for not doing what most of us would have done and pull the plug on Donnie and Ethier at the very least.

Ethier is the difference tonight and I'm sure the Dodgers are happy to have him right now.

You all know that old saying, The best Deals are the ones you don't make. I'm still waiting to see what happens between now and the 31st. I hope Ned doesn't give away the farm for a 2 month rental with Garza.

Was definitely a good night in baseball.

1.5 games out and over .500 at this stage is amazing.

All bias aside, I think the division is ours for the taking.

Agreed. Everyone involved waited patiently for team chemistry to evolve; would be stupid to do anything major now. Especially after what was witnessed last season. Even the bullpen seems to have shaked-out with the addition of Dominquez and Withrow and others coming around. Bullpen has been dominant of late.

No way I'm replacing Mark Ellis unless it's going to be Chase Utley. Even then I'm sliding him over to 3rd base.

I would take a 3 years younger, healthier and under team control Ian Kinsler 99 and half times out of 100 over Utley. You could still move Ellis over to 3B. Yes, Kinsler might cost more prospects but it would be worth it IMO

I'm not saying it's unreasonable or dumb, I'm just a fan of Mark Ellis. I believe he has every intangible you could want out of a player, and he's pretty decently clutch, great with the glove, pretty good with the bat. I don't think there's any way Punto or anyone on the bench could beat him out for a job, only if Uribe were to get smoldering hot. Which is unlikely lol.

I still think the discrepancy between Utley and Kinsler is pretty large. Kinsler has benefitted from good lineups, Chase is one of the main men in Philly and if you put him in between the lineup we got? Forget about it. Plus, he's a hometown kid so putting on the blue could spark a fire in him.

Just my opinion though.
