With Jordan yes, and 30 years before with the old Celtics. But even in the 80's we didn't know if it was going to be Boston or the Lakers and those finals were tremendous drama. The Spurs had an amazing run but they had big gaps between titles.

The only real difference here is that the Warriors are just that much better than everyone else. In the 2000s 2 teams won 8 of the championships. The 90s were the same. 80s the same.

The Warriors aren't going to stay together forever. But until they break up they are going to win a lot of championships.

So because LeBron is the better player overall Kyrie couldn't have been the better player in that series?
i mean- i get what yo uare saying

but LeBron did kinda avg 29, 11, 9, 2.3, 2.3.....led BOTH teams in scoring, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks....never been done before in NBA history

hey- Kyrie made one of the- if not the biggest shot in NBA history

but LeBron was ridiculous

That's actually pretty cool, I didn't think about that one.

If you are in the business of winning championships, Kyrie Irving is not your best player.

You know who might be that guy? Bagley and Porter.

Boston crippled their chances of landing one of them.
Yeah...

... at the same time, it's easy to fall in love with the potential of these guys coming out of high school. We always see the greatness... it rarely pans out.

To say nothing of the fact that Brooklyn may very well not be top 3 bad this season. There are a lot of crappy teams in the NBA right now.

I think it's a reasonable move by the C's. I wouldn't disagree with you that the C's have two great 2nd dogs right now... but they don't have that super-superstar.

Well, my definition of contender is a team that has a chance to win a championship. The Celtics will go far, no doubt. But Kyrie isn't the piece to get them past the teams they were chasing.

Ok?

Are Kyrie, Hayward, Tatum and Morris?

My bad, you're right. Isaiah showed up and really competed.

He played one game and tore his labrum. Somehow that means he turtled.

Didn't take you 24 hours to turn IT and fall in love with Kyrie.

I didn't say you couldn't win with him.

He isn't a franchise superstar. Cleveland was like 4-25 in games where Kyrie played and LeBron didn't. He is a nice piece, but he isn't carrying a team. He is a ball dominant scorer who doesn't make teammates better as doesn't defend.

I don't know if Bagley or Porter will be franchise players or not. But I know Kyrie isn't.

If Irving isn't a franchise player than there are what, 5 franchise players in the NBA?

Dont fall victim to the ole' "Whoever plays good besides Lebron must be the MVP"

Kyrie hit huge shots in that series, but Lebron putting up triple dimes every single night is the biggest reason they won that finals......

Its sorta like Lebron can be the NBA MVP every single season, but voters always look for the new guy thats playing great

Happens like that in every sport, though.

Mike Trout, Sidney Crosby and Tom Brady are their league MVPs every year. But voters get bored and vote for guys like Matt Ryan or Jose Altuve or Conor McDavid even though Brady, Crosby and Trout are the head and shoulders of their leagues.

That happens.

I thought of 10 players I would choose to build a championship team around. Kyrie isn't one of them though.

Get back to me in a couple years. We will see how you feel about it.

Is Kyrie a top 10 player? Clearly no.

Clearly? Here's the guys that are "clearly" better than Irving.

James, Durant, Curry, Davis, Westbrook, Leonard

There is the size of your "clearly" list.

Off the top of my head.

Lebron
KD
Kawhi
Steph Curry
Westbrook
Harden
Wall
Greek Freek
AD

Some would argue about Westbrook and/or Harden.

A few other guys could be franchise player at the end of this season if they really stepped up their game.

KAT
Embiid
Porzingas

If after 6 years the best you got is one 3rd team All-NBA, you aren't a franchise player.

Hell if given a clean slate I would easily add Boogie to this list. He's actually one of my top 10 players I would choose to build a championship contender with.
