Ask and you shall receive! I ranted about how terrible EJ was and begged for Orton to be put in, and an hour later there's a report the Bills did just that.

I have no idea how Orton will look, but it can't possibly be worse than EJ. Orton presents a viable alternative. If the other options were Jeff Tuel or some other turd, I'd say just stick with EJ and ride out the poop storm...

But I have to give Marrone some props for pulling the trigger this early in the season. It's very un-Bills like. They are 2-2, still very much alive in a division race where the Pats look bad and the rest look as expected. Time to make a change.

Agree. Last game might have been the worst quarterbacked game I've ever seen. E.J. looks like Shaq attempting a free throw.

At least Orton can make a 15 yard pass. That's all we need.

Like I said, this team is playoff good, with a capable QB. I wonder if the 40 passes last week was Marrone proving how bad E.J. was to the front office? I like Marrone and hope he stays......and I hope he returns to 40 runs and 25 passes.

I'd rather a piece of shit than a whole toilet bowl full...which is what E.J. has shown.

If KO plays half as good as he interviewed....

Buffalo will be in good shape.

Kyle Orton tells reporter 'that's a crap question' in first interview after being named Bills starter | syracuse.com

"Why will you run this offense better than EJ (Manuel) did?" one reporter asked.

"I'm not saying that I will," Orton responded. "And that's a loaded question. That's a crap question."

"I've been there," Orton said, "and EJ's going to be a great quarterback. He's got a long time to grow. I know when it happened to me early on in my career, I wasn't happy about it at all, but looking back, that time off that I had I really grew as a player and took it to my advantage, and I'm sure he'll do the same thing."

Great answer from Orton. EJ is a bust, but it's nice to know the Vets have the young guys backs.

We'll see how Orton does. Haven't seen much of him the past few years, but the one game he played for Dallas on pretty short notice I thought he was pretty decent. Threw a bad INT at the end of the game, but generated plenty of scoring drives and wasn't a complete liability. (Oh the standards we have in Buffalo)

^ recipe for Orton success. He can make short to intermediate throws if he has time. Orton, however, has to be one of the most immobile QBs to have ever played in the league.

300 yards in his first game! Something EJ can't get to. Intermediate throws completed makes all the difference. Orton will make everyone see how good this defense really is!!

I'm not calling Manuel a bust yet, I think Orton coming in and showing him the ropes is best for his career and the team at the moment too

Orton has ben solid wherever he has played. he'll do well for us in the short term; I'm not so sure he is the long term answer. He always seems to be "considering retirement".

He looks great so far. Best QB we've had since I can remember (granted, this only requires are basic level of competency). Great move by Marrone. Gave him props as soon as he did it and the Bills are looking good.

I still can't get excited though. We've seen this before, but I have to admit...that stupid kool-aid is starting to look tasty.

Could be in first place this weekend if the Patriots lose to Denver.

No we wouldn't. They'd be 6-3 and we'd be 5-3. We'd need to then win in two weeks against KC and then they'd have to lose to Indy and we'd beat Miami.

I don't think we catch the Pats. Wild Card seems a more realistic fantasy.

Fred Jackson on Kyle Orton retiring: “I can’t say it’s a setback but I can’t say that it helps us."

Ouch.

Ehh, gotta thank Orton for his time here. He gave us competent (for the most part) QB play that we haven't seen in awhile, brought us back to .500 and showed us our strengths and weaknesses. We're looking good, need a QB badly though.

It's up to the Bills to see if Orton will be missed or not. If they conduct their business like usual, fans will be back to begging for even mediocrity at QB like usual.
