Then wear a non NFL turquoise hat. If Brady were seen wearing a Ravens hat I'm sure there would be some backlash.

Not legitimate backlash. Who cares?

I seem to remember a similar story when LaBron wore a Yankees hat while playing in Cleveland. Cleveland fans were ticked, thinking he was planning on leaving...oh, wait, he did.

Non story. It's dumb but he's just matching the rest of his clothes. I know a lot of people like that. It means nothing about loyalty or whatever.

So Brady could wear a J-E-T-S cap and you'd sing the same song?

I have never in my life worn a cap of a team I wasn't loyal to. Not once.

You can't be serious. Robert Kraft would be rushed into emergency surgery and the choppers would be circling Foxboro. I call bullshit on that one.

I think Brady's done a Yankees hat before too, actually. Didn't bother me. If there's real things to worry about deal with them. Not dumb shit.

:agree:

I go to Giants games once in a while with friends that root for S.F. ( they go with me to A's games too ) but as an A's fan I'm not throwing on any Giants gear, and hey it's not like I play for the A's or anything.

I don't get what Colin was thinking doing that, it's not like people aren't going to recognize him in a crowd and them going on Instagram with a " u mad bro " attitude about the whole thing just makes me even more grateful to have Wilson leading the Seahawks.

Who are the Yankees? This is the National Football League. If Brady wore a Jets cap you'd be singing the same song?

The contrast is becoming more stark. I now have another team to root for in week 2.

Neither have I. I think it's dumb. I also don't own 20 pairs of shoes to match whatever i choose to wear that day. But it's part of a culture and not a huge deal in my mind.

If Brady did it, then so be it. If he wins games for me and stays out of actual trouble, I don't really care if he wears a hat.

It was in response to comments about lebron wearing a Yankees hat. But yes, that is correct. I don't give a shit what he wears.

Hell, I'd rather he wear a jets hat than think he's a model or whatever the fuck bullshit he does.

I think it is unwise to wear the merchandise of a competitor (in other words, a company that isn't paying you to work for them) in public, particularly if your line of work has the added "benefit" of having people recognize you in public and taking your picture to post online. The owner of the 49ers probably doesn't want to see any of his players wearing the hat, or replica jersey (throwbacks with the names of legendary players on the back probably excepted), of another NFL team, particularly when that player is his starting quarterback.

If he wanted to go out there in a Miami Heat hat, he could have done that and nobody would have thought anything of it, because it's a totally different sport and I don't think Niner fans would be in a panic about Kaepernick possibly deciding to leave for the Dolphins even if his contract didn't have a couple more years left on it. People had a fit when LeBron James wore a Yankees hat, but that was at roughly the same time that Clevelanders and Cavs fans everywhere were in a state of panic over whether James would leave or not and New York was still a legitimate potential landing spot.

All in all... hat guy or not, it wasn't a smart move by Kaepernick. I don't think it makes him a bad guy or even that it means he'd rather be playing for Miami, and on the list of things a player can be caught doing, this doesn't even make the top 20 in terms of bad things, but he clearly didn't think it through and judging by his response to the reaction it got, he clearly doesn't think it's as big a deal as it is. I'm sure someone will talk to him and make it clear that it actually is a big deal because he plays for the 49ers, not the Dolphins.
